Pretty descent budget. I've been happy with my Yamaha DBR12 pair for the last 8 years. In terms of sound, I can't tell the difference between the DBR and DXR. The cabinet on the DBR is very rugged and can take a pretty good beating. No issues. Great bang for the buck.

Mackie isn't bad, but SRM 450 v.3 is garbage. If you can find a set of v.1 or v.2 out there, it would be a cheap system that still pounds. Just be sure to add a decent sub (any brand).

nice, thanks for that. Im for sure going to get a sub regardless and as far as the srm450, im glad you said that because that was one of the ones I was looking at. I was also looking at the thump series, the 215xt.. I figured 2 of those and one sub should be good for now.

Not sure how much Mackie has changed in the last 10 years. Wasn't happy with the 2012 Thump TH15. They start sounding tired when turned up after a few hours of use. I don't know; maybe the amp and drivers were getting hot. Also saw the Limit light quite often.

"Good for now..." Here's my advice - but something with lasting value. Don't just settle for the cheapest thing right now.
You will be disappointment with Mackie Thumps. They won't hold up when you need that extra punch. I've used them and heard them at weddings, school dances, and backyard events... they suck. Sure, a sub will help, but you won't want to rely on that for good sound.
Spend the time and research a quality product (that you can still afford). Your business will profit in the long run when you invest properly now. I hope this helps.

This is true. I have a pait that I bought 8 years ago and they still work but I rarely use them any more. I even went so far as to add an 18" Mackie sub to go along with them which helped but it was way more work than necessary and the sound was still sub-par. I got rid of the 18" sub and bought some RCFs. The Mackies just sit collecting dust now. I think I used them 2 times as side fill speakers last year.
