Is Serato Studio continuing to develop? I havent seen any frequent Serato Kitchen episodes or updates. I am asking because I use Studio and I dont wanna heavily invest into it if its gonna be discontinued. ANy insights?

Hey guys,
Yup we're still working hard on Serato Studio! The last update was two weeks ago with VST3 support and new SDJ hardware support.
We've got some bigger features coming up soon so stay tuned. If you're a license holder you're welcome to join the beta and get newer features a little earlier before they release. To join the beta go to your Serato account and turn on 'Serato Studio Beta'.

We're still waiting for the master tempo automation. What's the timeframe?

No timeframe I can give you on Master Tempo Automation at this stage. It's a bit of a challenge for us because of a lot of the 'magic' that Serato Studio does with BPM syncing and Deck/Pad BPM automation make it a little more complicated.
We're actually doing some investigation now to look at the best way forwards with this, because we know it's a big request.

Would be great if you could work on serato mixtape bridge = serato studio plus serato dj pro.
Basically just like how ableton used to work with scratchlive in the bridge mode. Plus mixtape were you could play sounds from ableton library into scratchlive decks using a transporter but at the same time record a vsl file to edit out your mistakes later in ableton.
I mean the con here is computer or laptop tech has advanced now. Laptops are faster with more memory compared to back then 😊
When pioneer buy’s serato please pitch to them bring back the bridge as
1. paid plug-in version .
Or
2. Hardware version- where the bridge and mixtape are activated through a new controller specifically built for that. Controller can have platters, crossfader plus basics for serato deck use but also serato studio controls.

We're actually doing some investigation now to look at the best way forwards with this, because we know it's a big request.
It could be possible to implement a “lock” so user can choose between “force realtime stretching” and “key locked stretching”. If you stop the transport and “unlock” then a prompt asks “Do you want to actualise key/stretch parameters?” And checkboxes if more than one.
The same for automation and midi data adding some kind of quantisation/interpolation/granulation (if tempo goes down) so user can tweak to get whatever was on its mind when decided to stretch change key from the initial spot.
Something like “freeze” instruments implemented in some DAWs.
Also a checkbox or some way to exclude channels between “rhythm” and “melodic” (like arrangers) so again it’s up to user if want to move “key” for drums or not…
Most of this is already invented, from old Variphrase technology to Zplane based apps or Ableton/Logic themselves.
I’m not Studio user myself (because there isn’t an iPad app…) and IDK about “limitations” but it should be easy since Serato has pitchntime and also the ancient scratch plugin for ProTools.

Any features like CLips will be added to the sequencer?? It would be nice to be able to Sequence in more detail faster for changeups without making changes in each scene.

Would it be possible to add stems to the middle of the screen so you can stem parts of a track instead of the whole thing? To work around this, I bring in multiple versions of one song but it would be amazing to split sections of a track and only stem those specific cut sections

Yes i think something along the lines of a lock/unlock and/or Freeze is probably how we will have to tackle this .
In short, yes we're looking into how this might work now actually. It will massively open up the workflow in Serato Studio if you can also add MIDI clips directly to Song View. No timeline at this stage but we know it's a big request.
Yeah this would be cool, we've discussed a few ways of achieving this. One method is to allow per pad Stems so that you can set different stems for each pad, and just sequence when you want them to turn on/off.
