I actually think this is a very original thread.

I would have to say alcohol in moderation. That makes them relaxed enough to not be self conscious about dancing.

I was smoking weed/hash by then, drinking a couple years also.

Trust me dude, stay away from the shit. A lot of the dudes who I grew up with in the game got places a lot faster than I did because they had their head straight. I was too busy partying to see it. And it was hell trying to play catch up, lost a lot of good years.

And I'm not on some "just say no kiddies" shit either. I still drink like a champ, just not during or the night before a gig. Business first, then fun.

It's E, coming from Europe and DJing through the 90's I know what I'm talking about.

In 2003 500,000 people went out on E each weekend in England and I was one of them both on the dancefloor and behind the decks, I won't say drugs are good because I don't want to glamorize them but I had a good time and no fights broke out even though we had 1000 plus people at the events.

Played a handful of sober gigs in my life. I rocked and the crowd partied. There are also the gigs where you're essentially playing music to get drunk to for anal-retentive people who wouldn't dream of moving to music until they're well on the way to being wasted. Very entertaining to watch people who aren't used to moving their bodies dance. The kind of guys who think dancing is "for fags." They play air guitar with pool cues while their girlfriends dance with each other. Then...when the liquor hits...

Perhaps best to concern yourself with the music you’ll play and hope the crowd makes informed choices IF they decide to do drugs - ideally they do not do any but we all know it’s everywhere in many many forms.
