Serato: anything new coming?

Jay Rags 10:56 PM - 19 November, 2021
Serato..... Is there anything new and powerful coming? I feel like I'm being forced to play with pioneer devices in standalone mode, or Rekordbox in clubs lately.
I may have to buy a 2nd cdj soon.

It's like they don't care about long time Serato users. I don't feel like switching to Rekordbox and loosing all of the memory cues and loops I've set over the last 16 years.

What's new coming from Serato?

FYI.......there was a time Microsoft was sued because they seemingly forced users to have to use Internet Explorer because it came installed as a default.

Loosing = losing(auto-correct)

You can convert everything via Lexicon Library Management tool. Never lose work transferring between systems again. Everything can be moved without having to re-do cues, loops, etc.

Microsoft had a monopoly and people have to use computers for tons of shit. Nobody has to use Serato, nothing comes with Serato pre-installed like Windows did with IE. With my hardware, I'm free to use Virtual DJ if I wanted to. I also have to manually install Serato, so it was a choice I did make on my own.

There are lots of things I'd like to see added to Serato, but they can't even fix it so the waveform playback is smooth on a computer like mine which is way more powerful than Serato should ever need. (Ryzen 5700u) That's like base-level shit IMHO.

Basically, I'm not holding my breath for new features.

What’s the status of Lexicon? Has it been released publicly? Can you purchase it, or is it a beta for Rekord Cloud subscribers?

If it ever becomes a stand-alone application that actually works well, and with no subscription silliness, I will definitely become their customer..

I’ve bought a Prime 2 for this exact reason. I’ll keep my old MacBook Chugging along with my sound card at home but as soon as an alternative product comes out I’ll consider jumping ship.

I love Serato but the hardware situation is dire at present for Mac users.

Unfortunately, surato is not interested in improving for users' purposes. At serato, the circle of users is narrowing more and more, and towards cattle, like some users of this forum. I will soon have to switch to a program that keeps up with the times

XDJ RX3 is 2 ch standalone and will support Serato early 2022. I’m currently preordering. Love Serato but stand-alone functionality is the future going forward.

The XDJ RX3 is only stand alone for Pioneer DJ software, you would still need to use a computer when Serato DJ support in 2022.
Its time for a Serato DJ stand alone unit, I agree its the way of the future and its where dj hardware / software is going.

XDJ XZ is standalone for Serato correct? To play without a laptop is very convenient i don’t care what software i have to use. Can accept up to a 4tb ext ssd that’s good enough for me.

Serato needs to quit playing and just buy this company and implement the tech

What I love about Serato is how nicely it plays with convertion tools, and even Engine DJ can directly import Cues, Loops and even flexible beatgrids without much hassle, while this is a much bigger hassle with Rekordbox or VDJ. Also it works with Soundswitch and Ableton Live. And yeah, I got used to it and it NEVER crashed during almost 8y of usage. The new Stems release is also nice. But Serato still lacks some essential features, which ain't that hard to implement. This forum and reddit is full of them, the managers just have to listen.

My future will also be standalone, but as a backup, Serato is solid.
