Why haven't Serato partner with someone to make a stand alone SDJ player where we don't need a laptop.

A Serato embedded device has been requested for many years now. Maybe Serato has been secretly developing it with the help of one of their hardware partners(Roland??)
If I had to ditch my laptop today, I would probably choose Rekordbox. I DEF prefer a Serato embedded device over anything available right now, tho.

That might be so, but I am quite sure that such a investment would bring returns, lots of dj would like to ditch the laptop.

I dont think so, there will always be an option to use laptop or stand alone,
but you will have to pay more for controllers that are stand alone because its an added feature,
so I think having a seperate laptop will keep the cost down for controllers
also having a laptop allows you to run apps that a standalone cannot do like streaming apps that DJ softwares dont host.

Funny, a buddy of mines played a gig last night for the first time using his new Denon Prime controller. I asked him to give a recap on how he liked it.
He said he had several issues and how much better such and such was in Serato and this or that worked differently than Serato.
He said he would DEFINITELY be sticking with Serato vs Prime for the moment,
I wish Serato would update the Serato remote and maybe make a standalone serato App for iPad similar to DJay app maybe,

+1! I really like the DJay app!!
I use it at some of my events that have a separate kids' cocktail hr. I can walk around & 'dj wirelessly' connected via bluetooth to a battery powered speaker. The kids like seeing the wireless tech in use.

Make no mistake. Everyone wants standalone .............. until they use standalone. Whenever I use the standalone features of my 6000's or Prime Go I stream my music (Beatsource, Beatport, Tidal, etc) but when I use my own music (aka a paying gig) I use Serato and this is the way it will stay. As mentioned above the Laptop is still the key to everything and even IF one decides to go standalone you will never be able to "ditch" (a fun word used by the masses LOL) the laptop as you will just have to go running after it the second you need new music or even realize how limited you now are being you don't have your laptop in front of you. What did you even Ditch anyways. I got rid of my one computer for two computers by purchasing the 6000's? LOL. Stick with what works........

You kinda just hit the nail on the head. This type of feature set is for the oohs and aahs and at the end of the day fun to play with though I do agree it is effective.
