If this is your SZ2 then you'll really need to give it some good testing at home before taking it back out. Whenever I get new gear I try to get at least 3 or 4 good 4 hour sets at home before taking it out in public. Did you have Wifi turned on? If so, maybe something was trying to update.

You shouldn't take it out for 2-4 weeks until its been flawless. Try and run through your club sets for a few weeks at home before taking it out.

I recently had some disconnecting issue with my Rane 72. The issue turned out to be the cheap USB cable it came with went bad. Maybe try replacing the USB cable? I would also recommend carrying a spare USB cable.

Sometimes at gigs the whole sound runs thru the controller and there is no Aux cable, but I know I should demand one anyway right?

Even if you are solely using a venue's controller/gear- it's always a good idea to carry your own spare USB cable, AUX cable & even a backup external hard drive.

in order to diagnose the issue properly, you NEED the hardware or controller in your possession which you don't have.

But you can try switching USB cables from laptop to controller. If you are using an external hard drive it may be disconnecting from vibration.

I assume you bring the controller and they’ve provide inputs via xlr or rca or something?
Bring a small line mixer to put between your controller and their system. It’ll give you the ability to have backup and master eq and a stronger signal if needed.

Those adapters can be fickle. Maybe try another one? I've had many instances at work where an adapter causes issues even if it is the correct type. Some brands are more reliable than others.

What I read online is that this particular Macbook Air had issues with power going through USB ports, not sure if that could be an issue. Also Pioneer states it's best not to use USB hubs but are connectors OK? Again, never had a problem with other controllers.

ive been getting weird issues lately with sdj lately too. havent changed anything, sometimes it works well, other times i cant trouble shoot to find any issues. Weirdly only in the last 2 3 months.

Maybe you put some new audio software on the computer? Ive been getting more and more plugins for my audio production and wonder if thats causing conflict.

i took all NI software off my computer to make it play with all my rane stuff a few years ago, so now im just at the will of this avg to bad software.

I spoke to a pro who said issue might be caused by USB C adaptor, and recommends a powered USB hub. Thoughts? Again, I did not have issues when I used a different controler recently.
