Tracks running faster on my NS7iii

I have been using the Numark NS7s for about 2 years now with Serato DJ Pro And never had a problem beat matching. I just recently purchased the Numark NS7iii and I am not able to beat match due to tracks running faster. Everything will be ready to go and when I beat match on track starts to move slightly faster and within about 2 bars the mixing sounds terrible unless I constantly adjust the platters.
I have updated all installers and Serato, I have made sure the range is both set to 8, and I have put key lock on. I made sure the decimals were set to 2 and I noticed that on some songs it doesn’t let me hit every decimal and it will skip some but still the songs should still beat match even if it’s a decimal off. I have been 2 decimals off before and for an 8 bar mix it does not make a huge difference by the time you transition.
If anyone can help me with this problem this contact me and HELP! I’ve been struggling with this for 2 weeks now.
Thanks,
Nick@Nite

Try going to settings and see if where it says virtual deck speed is set to 33 rpm. Not 45rpm
Also in the back side of the controller on the right side there is a small switch for the platter torque high or low tryout low and say if that makes a difference.
Also you can play around with the pitch bend buttons to slow down or speed up the songs when mixing at the bottom of of the pitch slider

Appreciate the response man!
I put the switch in the back to low and I was already on 33 rpm. Still no difference.

That’s crazy what OS are you on? Have you tried updating firmware on the NS7 iii?

So I did a google search and come to find out the NS7 iii has not had 1 firmware update that’s very concerning. How do they expect the unit to play well with newer operating systems in the future...

There’s no installer. The NS7III is class compliant, (this is actually a very good feature we should demand on more controllers) and works entirely with generic mac/windows USB drivers. I’d imagine there’s less need to update firmware when the driver is standard.
The dashboard (NS7III screens) has received a firmware update which gives it a few extra features. www.numark.com
Can’t compare with the NS7s, but I do notice my NS7III isn’t lockstep perfect on pitch. Because the platters physically spin, they’re not 100% accurate, it’s closer to what you’d experience on DVS, not even a Technics has 0.0 wow/flutter.
That said, I’m slightly suspect of YOUR NS7III, since you should have already experienced this on the NS7s. If anything, I’d think the NS7III would be easier to beat match, especially with the goddamn genius BPM meter (watch that thing tho, it’ll readout as white/matched even if you’re off by .1 BPM)
I can’t “walk-away” from a mix for more than a minute and expect it to be synced perfect still, but I can, for sure, mix on the thing. There shouldn’t be an issue after two bars, but you do have to babysit the thing.
FWIW - I’m running mine with high torque @ 45rpm – on a mac.
If the rotation is actually irregular or compromised on your copy, it’ll be impossible to confirm with the naked eye/ear. You might be able to DL an audio calibration file for wow/flutter and see what happens when you play it on the decks. (turn off any keylock features)
Allegedly, the decks are “calibrated” by going through the whole range on the pitchfaders and start/stop playback adjustment knobs when you start it up. Worth a go.
Of course, you know you can just disable the motors, which gives you perfect digitally clocked playback. But also eliminates most of the fun from this very, very fun controller.
As far as matching BPMs to the decimal; I’ve had the same experience with the numbers not wanting to “click” into the right spot, but better luck if I remember to keep the BPM “simple” e.g. 75.0 not 75.14 – the pitch encoder can’t meaningfully adjust .01 of a bpm. The program likes to “stop” at these round numbers more often; so I try to work in the “stops”.

Yea I’m still having some problems. I tried contacting serato but they stoped replying to me so I guess they are trying to figure it.
I’ve talked to a few other DJs in my area that use the NS7III and NS7ii and they have the same problem from time to time. It’s kinda disappointing that Numark made a great controller and it’s not even completely compatible with serato.

Just got off of a chat with them and they are saying it is a hardware issue... considering DJs have similar problems I’m not sure how true this is. I’ll be in contact with Numark after Christmas to hopefully figure this all out.

I'd still try to diagnose the tables. Google "WFgui" and download a 3000Hz or 3150Hz test tone - I've never used it, but you should be able to measure the accuracy of the rotation with that tool. Numark should be able to tell you pretty quick if it's outside the regular tolerances,
