What is the point of writing tags everytime you load a song. The issue I see is this. I uploaded my music to Google play music for train ride and also my mixes. I noticed when I upload a mix it is also reloading the songs in that mix. Why? Nothing else in my music is changing except serato writing tags.

Hi Jazzy-Lu!
SDJ Pro Version 2.2.0 or higher? Then it's the "play count" feature (it counts in a tag).
IMHO the serato database would have been a better place to implement the counter ...

Hey! Have there been any updates or other discussions on this? Is there a way to turn the play count off?
Having it write tags every time I load a deck is unnerving. I'm sure it has minimal impact or cost to hardware and software but it seems to be one more thing to worry about during performance..
Thanks

hey DJ Ryan. I was told by serato only option is to go to a version before play count which IMHO is insane and not a real answer

It was always writing (or attempting to). Now you just have a visual at the bottom letting you know its happening. I know this because the way I backup my files, it always overwrites every song I played since the last backup.

You can always lock the track's file to prevent writing to it. That will also not update your cues/loops when you modify them and better lock the file after it has been analyzed by Serato.
