Customisable Pad FX

DJ Raef 7:42 AM - 26 July, 2019
Does Serato have any intention on creating a customisable Pad FX feature similar to RekordBox's PadFX1/PadFX2 where each pad could be customised to control different effects (e.g Pad 1 - Roll 1/8, Pad 2 - Echo Out 1/4, Pad 3 - Flanger - 16/1, etc)?
DJ Trice 8:57 AM - 26 July, 2019
Hi,

It's not on Serato part but mixer manufacturers.
For example what you need is availaible on Reloop Elite mixer, and works fine on my one.
DJ Raef 9:16 AM - 26 July, 2019
Hey trice,

Wouldn't the software need to be there first in order for manufacturers to build the hardware to accommodate?

To reconfirm, the Reloop Elite mixer allows users to customise assignable pad fx in Serato software? If so, I have a DDJ-SX2 & DDJ-SR2 and whilst both of these units didn't initially get released with the customisation pad fx feature, there's nothing stopping Serato to introducing the software update and allowing existing users to MIDI map 'Slicer' or 'Slicer Loop' etc function to a "Pad FX" tab and allowing those features you say have with the Reloop Elite mixer but on existing hardware.

Cheers for your reply.

Then I will ask the question for someone who works at Serato to help answer:

Does Serato have any intention on creating a customisable Pad FX feature similar to RekordBox's PadFX1/PadFX2 where each pad could be customised to control different effects (e.g Pad 1 - Roll 1/8, Pad 2 - Echo Out 1/4, Pad 3 - Flanger - 16/1, etc)?

PadFX is so fun and powerful to use in Rekordbox !!!
I think this is a lot better to use than the way FX is done in SDJ (3 FX slots with the same beat length) !
Moreover Rekordbox FX engine sounds better than SDJ one.

Unfortunetaly it is impossible currently to do the same in SDJ even with specialized midi mapping...

Maybe with the expected DDJ 1000SRT Serato will introduce this feature since the 3 FX slots are gone on this controller...fingers crossed 🤞🏾

Agree with this statement 110%

Is this rumoured or do we know any information on a Serato based DDJ1000 with PadFX features?
DJ Trice 11:11 AM - 26 July, 2019
Ok i understand now what it is

Ok now you understand what it is... does the Reloop Elite have that feature built into the hardware?
DJ Marv the Maverick 11:48 AM - 26 July, 2019
The SR2 has something that resembles it. It has pad transform FX but that’s it.

If you search the Feature Suggestion forum I’m sure PAD FX has been requested there.

It’s such a powerful and intuitive tool on rekordbox.

yeah I saw but no official response so thought i'd repost...

Pad Transform FX is good but it's nothing compared to Pad FX from Rekordbox.

ACTUALLY THE RELOOP NEON OSA HAS PAD FX SIMILAR TO WHAT RBDJ DOES. I ALWAYS WONDER WHY SERATO NEVER IMPLEMENTED PAD FX ON OTHER CONTROLLERS. I GUESS THEY HOLDING OUT TO SELL IT AS AN ADON FOR 9.99
DJ Raef 11:26 AM - 27 July, 2019
That's funny because I have 2 Reloop Neon's and only noticed now that it has Pad FX like you said. I wonder if it truly operates the way that RBDJ does (i'll have to test it after work today), and if so, why the hell don't they unlock it for all of their other supported hardware... i'd happily pay $9.99 for that level of individuality.
Djkom 12:55 PM - 27 July, 2019
It's not the same guyz:

Reloop Neon PAD PX:

Even the Vestax VCI 380 had PAD FX:
vci 380 pad fx

But the way they work is just a trigger of one those 3 FX slot cumulated to a velocity sensor.

Meanwhile, RKDJ works this way:
Watchwww.youtube.com

The main differences are in RKDJ:
- you can assign different FX to the pad button (8 for standard controllers and 16 for the ddj xp1 !!!).
- you can assign to each pad FXX a specific beat length and level/depth
- there 2 banks of padFX => up to 16 different FX (and 32 for the ddj xp1 !!!)

And no I don't wanna pay more this feature in SDJ since I already paid for the Serato FX expansion pack !!
The padFX mode should replace the current Roll mode since with PadFX we can also make loop rolls, and rolls with beath length >1 are useless so in SDJ we have 4 unused buttons.
DJ Raef 1:06 PM - 27 July, 2019
yes DjKom, i love RKDJ and how they allow users to assign different FX to different pad buttons.

I wonder if this DDJ-1000SRT rumour going around is true and if so, will the PadFX replicate the RKDJ feature or will it have the standard boring HotCue, Roll, Slicer, Sampler buttons *eye roll*
DJ Raef 2:11 PM - 27 July, 2019
After zooming in deep into the below pic, i'm sad to see that it appears to have the standard HotCue, Roll, Slicer, Sampler. That will be something to sacrifice to stay on Serato than switching over to RKDJ and getting those fun features.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure Serato won't allow you to remap anything on an enabled controller. (your main controller that unlocks the program.). However, you can map to a second, generic midi controller. For example, my main controller is an SX2. I also have a Novation Launchpad Pro. As long as the SX2 is connected, I can map functions to the Novation.
DJ Raef 5:28 AM - 28 July, 2019
Hey rr437t, unfortunately this is incorrect as you can midi map any controller. For eg, my sx2 has my flip keys midi mapped to be up/down/reset Key tone.
