Hi folks,
I Would like to upgrade my current laptop that can’t handle smoothly serato video ( heat, laggy and noisy fan ) with the new MacBook 2019 series to start videomixing ( i recently bought serato video plugin ).
My setup DDJSX and a 13 inch MacBook Pro mid 2014 Retina display 2,6 GHz Intel core i5, 8 go intel iris 1536 Mo

How should I go : 13 inch quadcore 256 go ssd 2019 or 15 inch 6 core 256 go ssd 2019 ?
Thx.

I haven't personally used the new macbook pro 13 inch but I would hesitate getting any computer that does not have a dedicated video card. Integrated cards are much weaker for video playback and processing. That being said the new iris graphics might be able to handle VJIng.

Personally, I'd go for even the lower end 15 inch pro. It would be perfect for video djing.

Thank you for your answer and experience.
what do you think about ME ( Mix Emergency ) I heard this software was less cpu consumer ?
Do you think I still need the 15 inch MacBook if I go ME ?
I like the portability of the 13 inch.

Regarding ME. I would ask on their forums. I use ME, but on a 15 inch pro.

Just an FYI you don’t need a new MacBook Pro to get video running smoothly. From experience I run my Mid 2014 MacBook Pro it’s a 15” w/2 gig video card and I’m barely hitting 20% cpu w/video it’s a beast. You could easily get a refurbished or used Mac 2014-2015 model for $1000+ those Touchbar Macs can be a fucking hassle...you’ll be buying video adapters/usb adapters and all kinds of shit. Not worth it

I have the newest 15 inch macbook pro 2019. I love it. No hassles at all. It runs very fast. Chews through multiple streams of video with effects applied. I just replaced the cables for my gear and hard drives with thunderbolt / USB-C cables. No adapters needed.
It's also lighter and thinner than older models. I upgraded from a 2012 15 inch Macbook Pro.
Tecniq is right. You can buy refurbished MacBooks right from apple for decent discounts or by used online. I wouldn't buy anything older than a 2015.

Also, keep in mind the NEW 13 inch only has 2 Thunderbolt ports. You will use one for charging and the other for the controller. So if you use an external Hard Drive you will need a a post hub. I highly recommend this one: dodocool MacBook Pro USB C Adapter

I’m now thinking about getting a refurbished 15 inch MacBook that will last.
