Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

mixemergency or serato video?

hi
after a pause of 2 years, I'm starting over
many years worked with serato video with no (big) issues
now I'm experience frame dropping, also at lower output settings, never had that

I use an expensive macbook machine with OS10.13

what I want to ask is, if it's maybe better to switch to mixemergency?
as I can read over the forum that this is more stable, and issues in their software are from time to time solved in updates
it's not cheap therefore I can use some persuasion

thanks

ok
just found out something
switched the 'YUV handling' to 'software only' ('rgb only' works also fine)

now enough frames coming thru, even on the highest output setting 'best'. (35-50fps coming thru to output)
never have been able to play like this!!

but, what is this 'YUV' handling?
and at what setting should I best set it?

thanks

Hi there Steven,

Most computer monitors display in RGB format and the Serato Video > Info > YUV Handling options are there to determine which code path will be used to translate a video file’s colour space information from YUV (Only a select number of YUV formats are supported via QuickTime) to RGB.

The options:

Default = Use either Software (Serato shader translation) OR RGB which is RAW colourspace information from the file/format.

Software Only = Serato shader translation to RGB format

RGB Only = No extra translation just displays the colour space directly from the file/format.

Note also, for the Serato YUV/Software Only option the Graphics Card must support the frame buffer object so in some cases I believe even if these options are selected we fall back to displaying RGB from the file without any extra transformation.

Hope thats helpful and answers your questions, please do let me know if you need further assistance.

Kind regards,

mixemergency is worth its weight.

do it.

time is money.

way less problems and stress with mixemergency and the support youʻll receive when needed.

more features, more options, less resources used, better recording, able to use as a standalone program. leagues ahead of your other options.

And yes, some people have gotten better results in Serato Video by messing with that setting. I still have on/off problems with frame rates and preview views in Serato Video that I don't in Mix Emergency.

Sounds like the numark is giving it some issues, might be a USB going bad or some sort of underlying driver issue if the DVS doesn't behave the same way.
