Projector recommendations? Wedding monogram / usb and simple

The Silver Boombox Thief 4:41 PM - 19 November, 2017
I’ve been researching adding a projector to my wedding set up.

Here’s what I think I’d like:

Budget: $500
Simple: usb stick compatible
Short throw: I don’t think so. This will be for dance floor projection or wall.
Image: something I can create with a basic program. Monogram with wedding date. Possibly on slow rotation? I use Mac.
Mount: tripod.
Need horizontal and vertical adjust.
No need for hdmi, etc. I won’t be running off a computer or doing video.
Comes with remote.
Zoomable.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You need to up your budget.

Minimum specs.

720p or higher resolution
4000 or higher lumens
10,000 or higher contrast ratio

You will not find these options in a $500 projector. There was a discontinued JVC model which did fit the bill but it has sold out at that price. Also a good projector mount will cost an extra $75-150.

Thanks for the heads up. What do you think my budget should be for your specs? It was a good summer so I have a few extra $'s to invest.

Thanks.

A few DJs in my area use projectors for monograms. I used mine for a while, but it's an older model with no horizontal keystone adjust - only vertical. Rebelguy is right... you'll need to spend about $800-$1200 to get a good one.

Projector mount is easy if you're handy. A simple G.C. speaker mount will work for a tripod. You just have to make a base plate for your projector. A thin piece of plywood or sheet metal will work fine.

This one looks to be at or above the suggested specs at $549.

I currently own/use a BenQ MW524ST for playing videos & wedding slide shows(montages). My next purchase will probably be the BenQ MW 625ST. The link is below…

I currently have a Benq MH741. It works well for montages.

Only bad feedback I’ve read so far...

“Take it out of your shopping cart! Just trying to use it right now and it does not support a flash drive to project anything. It has a usb type-a port, but that is just for a computer. So you cannot just plug in a flash drive and call it a day. You have to have something with brains plugged into the unit to tell it what to do. So a computer or media player. Very misleading.”

As for the Benq Line up, currently there is only one projector that they have that will play directly from a USB drive. its Model number is the i500, unfortunately it does not support 1080P. According to Benq they are launching some bigger projectors with the USB feature to play from a USB stick or a hard drive.
