Decided to try Rekordbox...not for me

DJ Tecniq 8:42 AM - 7 January, 2017
I purchased the DDJRB and received it in the mail this past Thursday. Tested out Rekordbox and wasn't a fan. No option for key tagging as Camelot notation, latency I thought wasn't tight enough and overall library functionality wasn't too user friendly. Instead I exchanged it for the DDJ-SB2 for Serato. I bought the DDJRB for the "better buy" my question is there anyway I can receive a discount to "upgrade" to SDJ sinfe I'm buying another Serato product. I don't think it's fair I have to pay full price for the upgrade since I'm sending the RB unit back and instead supporting Serato once again. And to be quite honest DJ Intro shouldn't be an option every controller should work out the box with SDJ it's been long overdue. Any staff member I can speak to or something? It kills me that I'd have to pay full price just to upgrade to SDJ. Here's a video of my experience with Rekordbox...it's very glitchy imo.

Since* and just an FYI I got a controller as a backup and for home use I already have a Pioneer S9

The positive about this entry controller is it actually sounds great for such a cheap deck. I was impressed with the overall audio quality besides the terrible latency. Maybe it's just me but that result def does not happen with my Pioneer S9. I have demo'ed a higher end Rekordbox controller as well as had the same issue. Already ordered the DDJ-SB2 but really would appreciate a discount for SDJ.

Similar decks except I have to pay full price to unlock SDJ yes they should as I'm supporting their product.

DJ Intro should of been discontinued a long time ago give us full functionality to unlock SDJ instead whether it is entry level or not paying full price to unlock SDJ is really asking a lot.

your argument is not making any sense... entry level controllers is not consider pro gear. Most of these controller are very cheap, thus you have a entry level program (intro). Lets say you buy one of these controller for $200 how would much you think serato would get compensated for using this controller with SDJ...

To answer your question it's actually a $250 controller. I don't make sense? Okay then why do they even offer it as an upgrade for SDJ. Yes it's a cheap deck but it can still be used with SDJ.

Well this is were the compensation argument come in.... SDJ is a pro software, meaning it take alot of money to pay developers to develop it. So just imagine you as a company owner, you spend alot money to develop a software and in return you offer free service to a $200 controller that another company have to make. How much you think this hardware company will pay serato for license fees? $50 or $100. if they pay $100 to serato for license fees then great you will now have a $200 controller that work right out the box with SDJ. But for the hardware company what would they profit, absolutely nothing. #bankruptcy

I'm not asking for free software I just shouldn't have to pay full price for it. I have invested my time and money with Serato for many years. From an SL1, Serato Video to SL3 to a Pioneer S9 to now a controller and instead shipping back a Rekordbox controller in return for a Serato controller I'd say I should def get a discount of some sort.
DJ Tecniq 1:24 AM - 9 January, 2017
Was fully aware it's an upgrade ready device for SDJ. Now since I'm upgrading do I pay full price for it or is the "upgrade" not the full cost? I understand I can do a monthly subscription but I would rather just pay the fee. How much would it cost for the upgrade like $150? I wasn't sure if the upgrade price is cheaper or the original retail price.
DJ Tecniq 1:28 AM - 9 January, 2017
Never mind I see it's $100 for the upgrade. Could you tell me if a sale is near? I know a few weeks ago it was 50% off or something like that.

You should have jumped on this one! We can't say if the next sale will offer the same discount sorry.

I agree but I also didn't have hardware to support it at the time. Even 75% off I would be ok with. I'll try out intro and maybe do the trial then make my mind up.

75% is more than 50%! I don't think we'll be offering this in an upcoming sale sorry Tecniq.

Cheers
