Audio Drop Outs - Waveform Lags for a second - Macbook Pro - Serato DJ

PHNX 3:50 AM - 19 March, 2016
Hello,

PREVIOUSLY
I had been using Scratch Live with an older PC Laptop for a while, with an SL1.
It worked quite good, but after a while some of the issues I noticed over time were :

- loading a track onto one side of the deck sometimes froze the screen for a few seconds (even though the audio never dropped out)
- sometimes a track would fail to load the rest of the waveform and would experience audio dropouts
- a little bit of lag
- the audio dropouts would also be accompanied by the USB flashing light coming on the screen

I assumed my PC laptop was starting to get too old , maybe not being able to handle the program as good anymore, and maybe damaged and not performing well when the bass/vibrations in some DJ booths was too much.

I bought an SL2 thinking maybe the SL1 box might have played an part in the issue,
but started experiencing the same thing.

So I figured it's time to get a Macbook Pro with an SSD
I just bought this macbook, and its way faster. It works really well with other programs e.g. Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm very happy with it's performance.

It has El Capitan installed, so I was only able to install Serato DJ (SSL won't install)

Running Serato DJ, I tested it out with the SL2 plugged in to the computer on internal mode and just looked at the waveform. The waveform looks really smooth, and fast.

But every now and then the waveform slows down and experiences a lag for a second and then goes back to normal.

I thought maybe it's just a screen lag (since the USB light never came on to warn me, and the CPU gauge is showing its not even being 1/4 or 1/2 used.

But in the club, each time this one second waveform lag happened, the audio completely cut out. It happened about 12 times over 1 hour, just at random stages, random songs. Sometimes even when I wasn't pressing or touching anything and the side playing was on internal.

This is so annoying,

PLEASE HELP !

Steps I have tried :
- Analyzed all files and removed corrupt files (I still have some Read Only files, not sure if this is a problem)
- Run Disk Repair on both Hard drives in this Macbook

Next thing I want to try:
- I'm going to try a new USB Cable
- possibly revert to an older OSX, and maybe install SSL and use that again

Here are my specs by the way :

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)
2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
256 GB Solid State SATA Drive (54.5 GB Free out of 155.42 GB Mac OSX Partition)
All music and programs are on this Drive/Partition ^^^
+ 1TB SATA Disk (completely free)

sl2 is incompatible with el capitan, install mountain lion, mavericks or Yosemite and ya good to go.

I downgraded to older OS And installed Scratch Live
Just finished 2 club gigs tonight working perfect
No issues :) thanks

I'm going to try SDJ soon too
But I think it will be fine too

The only thing that sucks is that I'm now on OS X Lion

I'm on OSX Lion haven't made the upgrade to el capitan I don't feel the need to serato dj runs stable, but you might wanna scrap ssl and stick to serato DJ its way more stable and a lot more features.
