Anyone tried Thunderbolt to usb adapter with SDJ?

I'm thinking about getting a Thunderbolt to Usb 3 adapter since the Macbook pro only has two usb ports and I would like to have three.

I have an Sl4, a vci 380( renamed device so I can use it as a mixer with midi pads) connected and would like to plug in my iPad as a touch screen using Duet to get rid of the laptop. Or rather keep it closed on the side just running SDJ.

So basically, have you tried running adapters with sdj? Any brand that's preferable?

As long as you don't connect the SL4 to the adapter, most should be fine!
You don't have that kinda big choice actually... I've a Belkin, which is a big brick with everything you might deserve

I was thinking about is www.kanex.com since it's fairly small.

I have 2 of these and never failed me... not even once (power adaptor NOT required).
The unit can take SL4/External-Hardrive/SP1 all together without a problem.

I am a little paranoid after a usb-hub caused a crash (i think) while playin at a club so I want to use separate ports. And that's why I'm trying this option. Could be a waste of money , who knows?

I've tried 7 or 8 different kinds before these ones... big/small, powered/non-powered, these fit my needs. So my search is finally over. Some things can't just get done with one hit.

So goodluck on your search!

Thanks, if the thunderbolt adapter doesn't work I will try out your solution.

This is the Thunderbolt "hub" that I'm using and I haven't had any issues at all eshop.macsales.com

I highly recommend plugging the controller into the laptop DIRECTLY. Using a Hub for other devices while at the club would be fine, but Thunderbolt is actually a completely different standard from USB.

If you got a Thunderbolt Hub with USB, it would actually have to have its own microcontroller inside of it that is what connected with the computer over the PCI-E -pci-e is a data connection standard, like USB, but operates in incredibly different way- based Thunderbolt cable.

In my case I'm doing this so everything has it's own port, no hubs.
