All I can say...
not even plugged into the laptop,
this is one crazy mixer!
The built
The feel
LOOK MA! NO MORE SPAGETTI WIRES! LOL
Thumbs Up!
Im currently learning the unit by itself without the laptop
Like MDX said, the sound quality is excellent!
Im currently running out of my Denon 3500
Love the center detent on the knobs
Up faders, cross faders are great. Smooth as butta.
I never liked kill switches, but using it with the Filter effects ohhh! I got something else to play with!
As for the effects,
It was intimidating the first time you look at it.
there’s no name for the effects just letters and numbers.
Now, READ THE MANUAL to know what each knob & buttons will do for the two effects. Echo and Filter
Once you figure it out, it’s easy as 1 2 3.
Be back later!
Time to install the 1.6 software :O

do u find urself touchin the computer less or are u still workin on that?
its a learning curve.
Right now, i still prefer using the Search field for finding songs. I have a huge collection and scrolling is out of the question.
Now if i only had a few folders with 30 or 50 songs inside
then Yes I would train myself to use the onboard controls
which i am learning slowly but surely.

1.6 to 1.7.2 So much stuff has been added to the software.
And so many promised features have not been added yet.
Until now we still have more or less the same effects as before with a few tweaks - where are the new effects?
We can't use this mixer as the mixtape-djs'-dream, if you use SSL you can'T use it as a recording device anymore.
It is still a great mixer, but I am a bit disappointed with the stuff this mixer would be able to do - but can not do yet.

Agreed!
But I think the main reason for the fact that not much has been added the passed year, is the development of the video and midi-feature. I agree completely that they would be absolutely awesome!!!... It's cool for certain parties and creativity, but I'm solely interested in DJ'ing, which is what attracted me in SSL... Vinyl emulation.
That's why I'm also a bit disapointed. To me, a few keyfeatures have been left behind like FLAC and ALAC support, or the addition of new FX... I mean, I feel like that DSP is going to waste! Sometimes I think that I should have bought the DJM909 with an SSL-unit... or even a TS-unit *shame* instead of the 57.
I'm not abandoning my 57 (which I love), it's superstable and supercool, but I don't think that the technology is used at it's fullest capabilities.
Video would be pioneering stuff indeed... but don't neglect to evolve the basics.

Honestly - I don't care. Customers already shelled out $1500 for the mixer, take care of them *first* before you focus on new products to earn further money.
Absolutely feel ya...
Uhm, absolutely not feeling ya ;) DJM909 - maybe, but the TTM57 has superiout faders.
TS - hell no. Did you read on what the latency is about?! Still not comparable with SSL.

Let's say I understand their reasons and the point of view, if you can pioneer this shit, your name is made which is best publicity ever. But that doesn't mean I like it. I bought the 57 because it had all in one mixer/SL/SL-control/FX, PLUS reading the forum, I felt like all the things I was missing were on their way, so I emptied my pockets and went for it. Now all the progress I hear about is on the video side... while I don't seem to read anything about progress on audio-formats, saving playlists, GUI-flexibilty.... basically a lot of hot topics I see many users talking about and not much reaction from engineering-side.
Absolutely feel ya...

I think you misunderstood :o). I'm not considering, I just mean that from time to time this thought flashes through my head because TS can deal with all the new formats, the hardware interface of TS is actually better equiped for use as a regular soundcard (flexibility) and other stuff. And that the 909 has a fully featured built-in FX-unit... Of course, right after that I remember how well SSL reacts, how smooth it plays and how great the rane-mixer is... no hassle connecting cables.
It's like a girlfriend. You absolutely love her, but you just can't help thinking "I wonder how it would be to..." if you see a hot babe passing by :oP

To me, a few keyfeatures have been left behind like FLAC and ALAC support, or the addition of new FX... I mean, I feel like that DSP is going to waste!Absolutely feel ya...

Sometimes I think that I should have bought the DJM909 with an SSL-unit... or even a TS-unit *shame* instead of the 57.Uhm, absolutely not feeling ya ;) DJM909 - maybe, but the TTM57 has superiout faders.
TS - hell no. Did you read on what the latency is about?! Still not comparable with SSL.

At weddings I use two setups (internal mode).
My son controls all of the music while I emcee.
I have many photos but Here's one for now.

Nah, I'm just a hard worker and a frugal spender.
Ask my girl and she'll be the first to admit that I'm not ballin'.

Nice set up Ace..Qeustion ???...why do you have the Pioneer EFX since the 57SL has effects. Do you prefer Pioneer or 57SL effects ??? Just curious.

They're good, but they're basic and there aren't that many of them. If yu like everything about the Pio EFX, the TTM57 won't be able to replace that... yet? If you like something more elaborate, you need something external.
Personally, altough I have the TTM57, the Kaoss Pad 3 has made me drewling a bit :o)

Evil_banana, have you checked out the latest firmware in 1.8? There are loads of effects available now.

I know there are extra's, just haven't had the time yet to check them out, need to make a backup of my music-DB first. They really expanded the effects (I think the bitcrusher will be my favorite)... but compared to the Kaoss Pad or a Pio EFX I don't think you could call it "loads of effects". Don't get me wrong, I like the TTM57 very much... it just doens't compete with an external unit... yet :)

Thanks djdaelo i love it also. The reason I use both is becoz i can do different effects on each channel. Also the fact the efx 1000 has effects that ttm 57 doesn't have YET. Believe it or not imShifty, the echo effect on the ttm 57 sound better than Pio 1000 but are slightly harder to use.
