HID MODE / USB 3.0 HUB COMPATIBILITY

VINYLDAVE 10:43 AM - 18 May, 2015
Hey Guys!!

I am currently running the club kit using a 900 Nexus I want to look into the option of running this on HID MODE. I currently have a 3.0 portable hard drive i want to start using for my music. So my question is will I be able to run HID MODE using a 3.0 powered HUB ? if yes, will i also be able to use 3.0 USB cords was well? will my CDJ 2000 nexus recognize them?

Thanks

The cables are the same and a USB 3.0 ports is usually backwards compatible. That being said using the external drive, might be best to plug that directly into the laptop and hub the cdj's and djm on a 2.0 port

Hi VINYLDAVE,

Shouldn't be any issues but on the odd occasion we do have customers who have issues plugging in USB 2.0 or 1.1 devices into USB3.0 ports/Hubs. Give it a test and see how you go

Hey Guys!!

Does my 3.0 USB HUB need to be powered?? I saw a couple videos online from like DJ City and it shows it didn't need to be a powered one? can anyone advise?

I "think" they can be used on a non-powered hub since the 5v usb is not powering the device and is solely used for data. Rule of thumb I use, if the device requires usb to be powered, best to use a powered hub.

It will never hurt to use a powered hub, just be careful using trying to use usb sata drives as they have a tendency to unmount from the OS.

Hey guys,

This is a pretty good article explaining if you need a powered hub or not.

No need for a powered hub but i use one. I have found if I plug the mixer into the hub I get audio drops out after 15min or so. I now connect it direct to my computer and put my external drive on the hub with the cdj. I did a recording with the internal serato recorder and its all distorted. Yet another thing to figure out
