Did iTunes just revert back to DRM?

WarpNote 10:52 PM - 28 April, 2015
Hi everyone, I just bought a 2 disc dancehall compilation off iTunes.
Disc 1 is aac non protected files, and has m4a extension as expected, but disc 2 is aac drm protected m4p files! What's up with that?

Even worse, there was no warning before buying the tracks.
Has iTunes changed DRM policy lately, do I need to check som pref settings in iTunes?

Is there any (legal) way I can play those tracks in SDJ?

This is the album in question -> itunes.apple.com

Damn, I feel like I've been cheated...

Hm, think I got it. Right click -> create AAC version...
Still though, why would they mess with customers like that?

Yep, some nice tunes in there :-D
I don't do reggae/dancehall nights very often, only about once every second month.
Mostly do other styles of music. So I do tend to stock up "in bulk" whenever I get the chance,
and to check out some other local reggae DJ's, err Selecta's...

As a white guy, its a good feeling when the black audience comes to thank me for the music, ask what song/artist I just played etc. Good vibes on those nights :D

Of course I "got it", the point is that it was implemented in the FIRST PLACE, which goes back to my rant of them saying we are NOT too far from them throwing a switch in the first place...

The technology is there, it's only a matter of time....

That's an older album. I would be "worried" if it was a new album but it isn't. Probably an album that fell through the cracks and hadn't been switched over.

Yep, album was released in 2013, not sure when iTunes dropped DRM, I assume they put the switch in the software when this was dropped, both as lots of users would have DRM tracks that they did not wanna redownload, just switch them to regular AAC, and for tracks that Apple did not get to switch in their own database.

Personally, I prefer MP3 320k over AAC. However, I was hanging out at the club while the liveband was rigging up, also had to rig a 4 deck setup, and had 2 hours before doors open.
I had a beer and was searching for a particular tune, and found it on this album on iTunes for only 7 usd, Norwegian iTunes region, not sure what US pricing is though. So I thought why not...

BTW, The track I was looking for was... Watchwww.youtube.com
