Hello. I'm new to the forum as far as participating but have been using Serato for a few years now. It's great as I'm sure you know already. Most of my content is purchased from Beatport and the downloads come titled strangely. I'd been using them for some time with Serato and eventually got around to renaming my files properly. My issue is that whenever I bring these files back into Serato, even with the new naming scheme, Serato sees that it's the same file and reverts back to the name as it was when I initially imported the file. How can I get around this?
I'm running Serato on a PowerBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11. I've removed all of the files I can find associated with Serato within the /User/Library folder and elsewhere that I could find and have been unable to get it to forget the old names of the files. Does anyone know how I can make Serato forget this information? They're all .wav files.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

What version of ID3 tag do they have?
Have you tried "rescanning ID3 tags" ?

I have tried rescanning ID3 tags and this does not work. I'd imagine that this is because they're .wav files which I don't believe actually support ID3 tags. I could be wrong though. Either way that unfortunately does not resolve this. I've trashed my Serato library file from the Music folder and that still didn't make a difference.

I also tested a new user account and I get the same result on a new user account. I've re-installed Serato and this has made no difference. I created a new iTunes library and imported the music and the filenames were showing as I expected. When I told Serato to view that iTunes library the songs came over, but again Serato remembered the old names. I'm not entirely sure whether there's something buried within these files or whether Serato recognizes them and has a database I can't find.

Scratch that...after I play each track it remembers the old track name again. Still unresolved :(

WAV doesn't always have an ID3 tag, that is why I'm asking what version is on there. If it has one, manually go into the tag and change the data. If it has no tag, you can't change what you can't find.

To my knowledge my .wav files do not carry ID3 tags. That's why I figure there's potentially something that's part of serato that recognizes these files.

WAV files have metadata and often times it is stored in different locations. The trick would be to find where in the file it is stored and if you can change it. You can also dump it into itunes and add an ID3 tag.

So this data is actually stored within the .wav file itself is what I determined. iTunes will not modify this data so I'm forced to do it with textedit or something of the like. I'm currently trying to figure out a different way to do this.
