DDJ-SZ Parts?

blackavenger 12:26 AM - 18 January, 2015
I have two questions....

1. Does anyone know if a Technics pitch fader knob/cap will fit the SZ's pitch channel (area) without rubbing?

2. I have looked online, but not found the specific part number for the SZ's Top Plates. Does anyone have this information, or more to the point, does Pioneer even offer replacement Aluminum Top Plates?

This is all I've been able to find, and it's not very comprehensive....

Did you look at the parts diagram in the link you provided?
blackavenger 8:25 PM - 20 January, 2015
Naw, just the list with part numbers. I'll give it another look.
blackavenger 2:15 PM - 21 January, 2015
Thanks, Taipanic. Total oversight by me regarding that diagram. The Top Plates are listed!

Now, all I need is for someone who owns the SZ and Technics to tell me whether the Technics Pitch Fader knob/cap will fit the SZ without rubbing the sides.
deejdave 6:51 AM - 24 January, 2015
It was "a fit" but at the same time not really. While the caps did sit on the posts of the faders it is not super tight and it actually rests at the top as if the SZ fader post is too tall. I went ahead and tried the PLX-1000's which were tighter but had the same issue believe it or not although the tightness may have been due to the VERY new condition of the caps.
blackavenger 6:53 AM - 24 January, 2015
Naw, you answered what I already suspected........they don't fit. :-/ Bummer!
So, it's just a matter of depth? Not that the cap rubs against the side of the channel (area)?
blackavenger 6:55 AM - 24 January, 2015
If it doesn't rub, then I may be able to bore out some of the cap to get it more snug. But if it does rub the sides, then it's pointless.

correct.

..................... or file down the fader post but YES the 1st scenario is MUCH less damaging and permanent as all you would theoretically need to do is replace fader dap. The thing is though is there is next to NO meat to bore. In terms of lateral boring sure it's got the necessary width but vertical boring there is almost NO meat (plastic) keeping the post from extruding if this makes any sense.

You see, I have this idea to take the new Gold SZ....replace the top panels w' the black aluminum top plates from the original SZ, replace the black pitch fader knob/cap w' the gold one from a Technics 1200GLD, and replace the EQ Pots w' Gold Aluminum/Metal Pots.

Then it would look like the 1200-GLD.

I realize most peeps could care less, but aesthetics are important to me. Plus, in the ever evolving world of controllers, you gotta' do something to them so that they'll maintain a little resale value.

I honestly would not have posted this if I were you this is such a good idea!!!!

You are talking to MR. OEM!!! LOl and I am the last to customize BUT this idea is something I could even see Pio marketing. A Gold/platinum thing has been done. You can be DAMN sure if Technics were in the controller game this would have been a reality by now. Very nice idea!!

Between us I am actually very much looking into making wood sideplates for my SRT like the new Rane rotary has. Being Serato devalued it on Thursday I have to do something to make myself feel better about it.

Haha, sorry man....yeah, that's some wack 'ish w' the Club Kit.

Yeah, you should put wood panels on the sides, but have them stained grey!

Haha, I didn't really want to post the idea, but no one other than Taipanic, is following this post. Anyway, I gotta' find another brand pitch fader that'll fit the SZ. I've though about just purchasing and painting the Silver cap that came w' the "White" SX.....that might work.

True lucky for that. I will keep my eyes out for you on this fader cap though. That is just what I tried right now when I went down to the lab. I'll let you know if I come across anything.

Thanks, Dave.

Of course no problem.

Mine sat a fraction higher I feel like but other than that same for me. I found two that fit perfectly with the low profile and sit low and EVERYTHING but I can NOT find where they were from. I have a "parts box" with random knobs, caps, etc but not much help sorry.

Yah that is "about" how high mine sat. I still feel like they were higher although I did not take a picture. The PLX ones DEF sat higher but again my technics ones are a little loose on my TT's as well.

I really wish I could figure out where these other two came from. They're rubberized anyways though so not sure if that is even the look you would want but they sit NICELY!!
blackavenger 2:33 AM - 26 January, 2015
Naw, I'm looking for metallic caps; be it silver or gold.....I have two different themes I could go with. I haven'tr decided which one I want to do. Hell, I may not even have a chance to get the SZ-N. From what it says on DJWorx, there are only 1,000 being produced worldwide.
d:raf 11:51 PM - 27 January, 2015
You could take it back to science class and use one of these to "make" your own: www.amazon.com
blackavenger 12:57 AM - 28 January, 2015
Wow, that's really cool!
wicked223 3:58 PM - 19 August, 2015
I can across this randomly it comes up when you search for ddjsz parts on google
wicked223 3:58 PM - 19 August, 2015
This is Jeff rick 😜
blackavenger 9:34 PM - 19 August, 2015
Haha, what up Jeff?

Yeah, so I ended up getting the SX2 instead. I didn't see that SZ-N advertised anywhere.
I did end up getting some silver Pitch Fader caps though. Not the Technics ones, however, but the CDJ-1000 caps. They were a snug fit for the SX2. I also got some Coolercaps for the pots.
blackavenger 9:41 PM - 19 August, 2015
Here it is.....kinda' grainy photo though
