I've seen threads on sorting crates alphabetically and other ways, but I can't find a thread about keeping your entire Serato library in alphabetical order.
I'm running Serato DJ 1.7 on a 2013 Macbook Pro, OS 10.9.5. All the music resides in one folder on the laptop, no external hard drive. Using a Pioner DDJ-SR controller.
When the controller is not connected and I open Serato DJ, I look in the "All" view at the top of the left column, above all the crates, to view my entire library. All of my tracks appear, but in a seemingly random order, though it's the same order every time. The "Artist" field is highlighted, so it should be sorting the tracks alphabetically by artist, but it is not. Clicking the "Artist" bar at the top of the column does nothing. Clicking the tops of any of the other columns to sort by song title, timing, bpm, etc., also doesn't work.
When I go into a crate, tracks do display in the order I've previously selected. However, I cannot change the order of the tracks within the crate.
When I open Serato DJ *with* the controller connected, it takes several minutes, but the "All" view does display in alphabetical order, and the columns *can* be clicked to sort by bpm, etc.
It seems unreasonable that I can't view my full library of tracks alphabetically, or choose how to sort/view them, or reorder tracks within crates, unless my controller is connected. I have no such problems doing any of these things in Scratch Live. Sometimes I want to work on a crate while I'm out and about with my laptop and my controller is home. Seems ridiculous to have to go into Scratch Live to do all that stuff.
Is there a setting I can adjust? I have "Show iTunes Library" and "Protect Library" unclicked. Though I have also tried it with "Protect Library" on and that didn't fix it.
Thanks for any help.
