Budget SDJ Certified Scratch Mixers Coming Soon

Dokumentary 8:54 AM - 5 August, 2014
I hope this will become a trend in the market very soon. I'd love to see budget SDJ compatible, MIDI, scratch, mixers from every manufacturer out there. Can this list serato.com double by the closing day of NAMM 2015?

With the combination of Serato's new emphasis on DVS as well as the recent resurgence of turntable/CDJ (non-controller) DJs, hopefully manufacturers will recognize the need for budget mixers that have SDJ built in.

Each brand would have their own take on it.

Vestax: VCI style mixer with pads and SDJ FX controls built in? How about a smooth uncluttered x-fader and a real clean design? Built like tank. Similar to the PMC-05ProIV but with bigger pads and all the pad functions (cues, sampler, roll, slicer, etc.) Priced around the same as NI Kontrol Z2. $700.00 or so.

Numark: Bring back the ill-fated X7 www.pssl.com with SDJ built in!!! Tons of inputs, MIDI on every control and give us those touch sensitive EQ knobs from the NS7 II/NV. $449.00

DJ Tech: Dif-4M... They made a MIDI version of the Dif-1S www.djtechpro.com Why not make a MIDI Dif-4S? www.djtechpro.com Add about $150 to the price for native SDJ sound card and another $100 or so for the MIDI capability and this thing is still under $500.

Who else? Denon? Allen & Heath? Stanton even?

What about companies that aren't known for mixers? I'd love to see Novation or Akai take a shot at a fully functional (Pads, FX knobs, Sync, Slip, Flip) DJ mixer in the sub $1,000 range.

Who is gonna manufacture your next DJ mixer and what features will it have?

Well there's a template to follow thanks to Akai. Just combine the features of the AFX and AMX and viola. And since Numark and Denon is under the same umbrella with Akai, you would think one or both of those companies could put a mixer like this out no problem.

Shouldn't be too hard for companies to pull this off right? Basically just build a controller but without jog wheels and in a DJ mixer format/height.

How about a Novation Twitch mkII with phono/line inputs for DVS and hardware filter?

This right here, perfect with the V7s, although they coulda made the X5 a 2 channel version of it instead of just a regular mixer.
