SSL for $489?! Get it while it's HOT!!

m0rph! 9:37 PM - 10 November, 2004
Surfing the web... came across this gem for all of you:
audiolines.com

On a whim, I called up Guitar Center to see if they had any copies. As the dude on the phone began to tell me that SSL was only available by special order, he stopped mid-sentence and exclaimed, "Oh wait! We have two copies here!" That's where I've been the past 90 minutes. Price-match in hand, walked outta the store with the NEWEST SSL BUNDLE (it includes 2 CV01's and 2 CV02's!) for only $501.70

Changing my profile now... I am currently a proud SSL owner! :-)
nik39 9:54 PM - 10 November, 2004
Are they an authorized dealer? I thought authorized dealers arent allowed to advertise a price below the minimum advertisement price (which is $539)?
Revolutionary 10:06 PM - 10 November, 2004
Wow. That's crazy, m0rph...Awesome.
m0rph! 10:51 PM - 10 November, 2004
cRaZy indeed!! Authorized, schmauthorized... I just needed some price-matching leverage with GC! ;-)

Still mixin now.... 72 continuous minutes with no hiccups.... =P
nik39 10:53 PM - 10 November, 2004
morph, shouldnt you even get a better deal at pssl, who offer the 110% price guarantee? That would be $489 - 10% =~ $440?
DJUnknown 11:32 PM - 10 November, 2004
I got mine at GC for $469 even (tax included)
J-steez 1:20 AM - 11 November, 2004
Is that GC regular price??

GC here charges MAP for SSL (could I use anymore acronyms?)
DJUnknown 1:28 AM - 11 November, 2004
Their regular price from my understanding might be 469, that's what they told me at first, then I haggled them to make it a flat rate so they worked it out so it came up to that with the tax. I buy a lot of stuff from there, so I think that's why they work with me, plus they claim I was the first one to purchase it from them. Even if you have to pay the tax on top of the 469, it's still a good deal.

Possibly. Mine was $469 +tax, but at least I have it in my hot little chubby hands TODAY! Plus, if I have any issues (which I'm quite sure I won't), I can simply take it back to the store (no RMAs, no turnaround time, etc.). Regardless, SSL is worth the full $539 IMHO.

Now.... back to SSL.... ;-)
Revolutionary 5:30 AM - 11 November, 2004
That is totally awesome, man.

Difference between the price of my SSL and my man m0rph's:

1270
- 469
= 801

Hmmm...That's one hell of a difference...
nik39 8:01 AM - 11 November, 2004
1270$, you could fly to the states, spend some time there in a hotel, and come back with a complete SSL package, might get some extra control records. :-) But youre stuck if you got any warranty issues. But hell, thats really a huge difference. I think I will get another SSL box only from the states.
Revolutionary 2:12 PM - 11 November, 2004
Yeah...

was this a price match or reg price?
If a price match where did you find the ad?
FoundationDJ 5:39 AM - 16 November, 2004
REV.. where in the heck did you buy a SSL for $1270.. and I have to ask why? they are advertised everywhere for $539.. even on EBAY for that (with international shipping).. cause damn thats alot of $$$$ I mean SSL is great and all.. but for $1270. I'd live without the warranty and if had problems just beg the MODS here..
Revolutionary 8:01 AM - 16 November, 2004
Norway is one hell of a crazy country. A bottle of beer costs like $6. You don't wanna know how much you have to pay for a beer if you eat out. That's crazy.
Revolutionary 8:01 AM - 16 November, 2004
*when...
DJUnknown 2:29 PM - 16 November, 2004
J-Steez I wrote this earlier in this thread, perhaps you miised it...

I live a 5 min walk from audiolines.. ONLY PLACE I'LL BUY ANY OF MY GEAR. They are truly great guys and will always work an awesome price!

Mani and his guys will keep everything smooth for you. I HIGHLY recomend them.

But buy it up now cause they told me that there maybe a price hike :-(
screen 11:53 PM - 20 November, 2004
These are shipping prices audiolines is charging for the SSL shipped to me in Phoenix:

Next Day Air Early AM 8am next business day $369.03
Next Day Air 10:30 A.M. - NEXT DAY $337.40
Next Day Air Saver END OF DAY - 1 DAY $309.65
2nd Day Air END OF DAY - 2 DAYS $233.17
3 Day Select END OF DAY - 3 DAYS $176.89
Ground Residential $76.05

These prices are outrageous! The actual Shipping Weight is 7 lbs. Guessing the box size @ 16x16x9 the actual UPS shipping cost to me with insurance would be:

Next Day Air Early AM 8am next business day $114.79 (-$254.24)
3 Day Select $34.92 (-141.97)
Ground Residential $12.30 (63.75)

You would pay $552 for a SSL shipped ground or $631 for 3 day. A quick google search shows a number of retailers offering the $539 price with free shipping (ground). I'd suggest doing some more research.
nik39 12:21 AM - 21 November, 2004
Those shipping rates sound like a total rip off :-(
dj midas 2:05 AM - 21 November, 2004
I got mine from Prosound for $485.99 deliverd
skutch 9:19 AM - 21 November, 2004

Crazy...
SpinThis! 10:50 PM - 21 November, 2004
haha. i think someone moved the decimal place to the right... sounds like an ebay auction gone bad. sell the product under MAP but then rape the customer on shipping. what a way to do business.
SpinThis! 10:52 PM - 21 November, 2004
actually sounds like the prices you'd pay for a 50" widescreen tv or something...
radish 2:28 AM - 22 November, 2004
Hey - I only paid $200 to deliver a 50" plasma from Washinton State to NYC! And that was with a specialist carrier. Those prices are insane.
Revolutionary 5:40 AM - 22 November, 2004
They can't be serious, or?
Rane
mayman 11:15 PM - 22 November, 2004
A customer can always shop the market place for the best deal. No two sales operations are the same. One thing I do know is that the price the dealer gets is the same for all dealers no special deals based on who you are.
SpinThis! 6:11 AM - 23 November, 2004
except if you're wal-mart...
Brandon Fisher (BLF DJ Supply) 9:20 AM - 23 November, 2004
I have lost sales to audiolines already in the short time I have been a Rane dealer because of their incredibly low prices. Simply because I can't match what they are doing without going broke.
screen 6:01 PM - 24 November, 2004
BLF, You can charge less than anyone else and rape people on shipping just like them! Isn't what they're doing go against they're dealer agreement with Rane?
Revolutionary 6:06 PM - 24 November, 2004
Nice...Family-business.
