Numark NS7 + older Macbook Pro

Allright. I had a gig last weekend, and it was a disaster. Out of nothing, after hours of play, the NS7 started to act weird,
The midi lamp started to light up and i lost control, and in the end it crashed. It did so 3 times in 10 minutes.
I could not figure out what was wrong.

Now, i have figured it out.

Here is my guide to serato dj on an old Mac.

- turn off wifi, Bluetooth, systemsleep etc. All that you can see in 1000+ articles
- install a fancontrol. I use SMC.
- connect youre controller to the righthand usb port. It has a larger speedlimit. If youre Mac dosnt have a usb port on the left, choose the one closest to you.
- downgrade to serato dj 1.5.2. It is, in my opinion, the most stable version on older computers.

I hope this helps.

Best regards
Mathis

If that's the case, is there a way to dl older version of Serato, I think my friend might need that since he has an older Mac.

Yes there is. When you click "download serato" you will come to a submenu with manuals and stuff. At the bottom there is an option called "serato dj download archives'

Remember to tell him in whitch usb port to connect his controller. Major difference! :)

I'm confused.. Which one should he connect the controller?
Right or Left?

Plus can you tell me how old is your Mac?

My Mac is a Pro a1226 dualcore 2,2 with 4 gb ram
On mine the good port is the one on my right hand when facing the screen.

So you used that port for the controller? What if you have an external HD? Do you use the bad port for the External HD?

I dont have an external. All my music is on the internal drive. I use the left (bad) port for serato remote.

Uhh. Just figuered something out :)

Some of mine mp3 files are corrupted, even though i've analysed them.
When i load them to the deck, it freezes the program.

So my newest advice is to preload every single file you got. Then you will avoid crashes for sure :)

Just figuered out something. Scratch live's analyzer is better than DJ's. I've analyzed all my tracks with autofill overview and autogain at 90db in ssl, and it discovered some corrupted files that sdj did not.
I am, as mentioned earlyer, using the sdj 1.5.2. I've read in some otter posts, that sdj version 1.6 and up, has a gain problem with tracks analyzed in ssl. But for me it is perfect :D
