i have done this all procedure you mention, for more than 10 times, including the technical support of sony tried all angles for two hours, end up fail to connect midi divice, they said its more on compatibility issue of your serato software and registry issues, they are already the manufacturer expert on handling this issue, but still no connection, besides not only me complaining the same problem on pioneer ddj sz who use microsoft, please stop going around because we end up failure connection everytime, i have been trouble shooting this problem for 3 days now, following all your instructions but still failure to connect midi divice.

Hi hummer 1963,
Can you try connecting with another USB cable? Test ALL USB ports. Make sure WIFI & Bluetooth are off, and all background are closed when using Serato DJ.
Let me know how that goes :-)

Hi hummer 1963,
I've got some steps from Pioneer for you to follow as well:
1. Press the Play button and Shift button on the left deck and the Power button at the same time to enter the Utility mode.
2. Please ensure that the [KEY LOCK] button is off. If it is not lit, “Auto” is enabled.
If the [KEY LOCK] button is lit, press the button to turn the light off.
For further details, please see [Changing the settings]->[Utilities modes]->[Forcefully using the unit as the general MIDI controller] in page 24 from the link below.

Hi hummer 1963,
Sorry it's taking this long to get you up & running, man. I've got a couple more steps we can try.
Try using MIDI OX. Let me know if your computer picks up MIDI messages from the DDJ-SZ. Follow the steps here - serato.com
Let me know how that goes.

thanks ill try this coming friday, although i think when i talk to sony technical support they also try this and it didnt work, but i will try it again this friday, i allow them to remotely control my laptop and it didnt work, they said it has something to do on compatibility and registry, and i try to do repeatedly step by step
1 download and update firmware for ddj sz
2 download the pioneer driver software for ddj sz
3 download the serato 1.6.3 software, i think thats all the procedure but it always says failure to connect midi divice
also tested different USB PORTS, ALSO USE THE SOUND AND MIC OF THIS LAPTOP AS THE DEFAULT. I THINK IVE DONE EVERYTHING YOU WANT ME TO DO, ITS ALMOST 2 WEEKS NOW, MY DDJ SZ IS JUST IN THE CORNER. DO YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO DO BY REMOTE OR OFFICE HERE IN LOS ANGELES

Hi hummer 1963,
No, we're based in New Zealand, we don't have a office in the USA.
Let me know if your computer picks up MIDI messages through MIDI OX from the DDJ-SZ.

Ok, cool, that shows that the controller is sending MIDI messages.

i already did this more than 3 times, look on your previous messages, we are just going around again and again. its been two weeks now since i bought my ddj-sz but still the same message, tried all your suggestions many times, still the same. do you have an expert to do this on a scheduled remote assistance, so you would understand what i meant, i am willing to agree to give access to your expert to remotely solve the problem on my pc regarding connections of the ddj-sz.

I understand the issue you're having, I just wanted to make sure you had followed those steps correctly. Remote viewing with this issue isn't going to help.
Can you try connecting that controller with another computer?
