Serato Dj 1.6 plus pitch n time dj
Mac book pro late 2011
Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

Using control CDs in relative mode

I get unexplained drop outs on audio whether i record or not
These are frequent about 2 a night for a 4 hour set I can almost set my watch by them now every one and half hours in and then an hour later
No CPU overload or usb warning

I can upload some audio for you to hear if you like ?

Your thoughts welcome ?

Also the actual sound from serato dj does not sound as full as scratch live ..... what i mean is that the sound is beefer in scratch ...

Tested this with the same track on the same system and there is a definite sound differnce between software platforms

Thanks in advance

Where is the buffer set to for SDJ and for your SL4 in the Rane control panel?

I have the same spec Mac as you except I'm still on Snow Leopard and the graphic card is diffrent but I have notice when I had Maverick installed I would get drop outs and never had any in Snow Lepoard so that's why I downgraded back to Snow Lepoard, Maverick is more CPU hungry.

Also PnT will definitely give you drop outs if you have your SDJ buffer at 1ms

I have my SDJ buffer at 5ms and the Rane control panel at 8ms, try those settings and see how you get, if not turn off PnT and see if your still experiencing drop outs, most likely you wont after turning off PnT.

Hi Raymixx thanks for the reply.

I have my SDJ buffer set to 5ms and the Rane control panel to 12ms

I will try going back to Snow Leopard see how that goes ....

Also do find there is a sound quality difference between SDJ and Scratch Live with your sl4 ?

Cheers for the tips

Yes I can tell that the sound in SDJ vs SSL is not the same especially when scratching...pretty sure everyone w/ Rane hardware is experiencing this.

Hopefully it can be fix in a future release.

Are you using an external HD? If so, how much free space does it have?

Do you also make sure to turn off Bluetooth and WIFI on the computer?
