Hello!
I have been using the ITCH and VCI-300 for a couple of months and just couldn't deal with not having a sampler any longer. Here is my version of how to have samples and use ITCH at the same time... Hope you all enjoy!
(Note: I am using Windows XP and Itch build 10429)
Anyone who has used Virtual DJ in the past knows that the software has a sampler and FX built in. Unfortunatly we cannot take advantage of the FX in Itch but we can use the sample bank.
1) First we need a way to trigger the samples in Vdj, this can be any USB game pad or joystick. Someone has already made a nice tutorial on how to convert a game pad or joystick to a midi device so I will post the link as opposed to rewriting it. Link : www.instructables.com
If you wish to keep the gamme pad intact the way it is without modifying it then proceed to step 2
2) Once we ge that sorted out its time to get the new controller to convert the game pad signals into usable midi signals. We will do this by using 2 cool pieces of software. The first one to be installed is Midi yoke www.midiox.com
once installed restart your computer and install the second program called
Rejoice

Now we need to hold the one of the buttons on the game pad down and click where it says note on then click ADD. When you have done this step for all the buttons you wish to use click on midi out and select yoke 1 from the dropdown list. minimize rejoice and oper virtual dj www.virtualdj.com

Click on Config Select the remote control tab then right click general MIDI select activate. Right click general MIDI again and click on Config. Click Add Select samples from the left box and sample play from the right box. Press the button on your game pad or joystick that you want to assign and then enter the sample that you want it to control in the box that says Value. This has to be a number from 1 - 12. If you want the sample to play only while you hold the button down then you select the box that says momentary. Click OK, Repeat the steps until you assign all of the buttons on your remote that you intend to use and then click OK. Click OK to close the settings box.
Now you will have to use a 1/8 to phono cable or adaptor
www.radioshack.com
and plug your computers headphone port into the input on the back of your VCI-300.
Now open ITCH make sure the input on the back of the ITCH is turned up and press one of the buttons on you gamepad or joystick and enjoy!

Much easier to use a program called Global FX, it runs in the background and works perfectly with ITCH using the F1 to F12 keys. It is a home grown application made by a Scratch Live user, I have been using it with ITCH since I got, with absolutely no issues.
