So I am debating between these 3 options:
1. www.grandtec.com
2. www.grandtec.com
3. www.avermedia-usa.com
4. any other suggestion?
Personally I like 3rd option the most, since I already had one and I know is not too large and is simple to use.
I need it to get s-video & composite out from newest MacBook Pro to projectors most of the time, and TV's, LCD occasionally.
So any expert that can say difference between these 3?
Thanx:)

Huh, just came across this one..
Does anyone know what is this for?
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter store.apple.com
The new MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air each have a Mini DisplayPort that allows you to connect an external display or projector using an adapter. You can use an external display as your main workspace or to extend your desktop, or you can work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees.
Use the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to connect your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air to a 30-inch display that includes a DVI connector, such as the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display HD, and enjoy the ultimate widescreen canvas with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels.
Compatible only with MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air with Mini DisplayPort.

i'm thinking about getting this: www.avermedia-usa.com. are you sure it's going to work? it's look like the best option to use for a vga connection from the new mbp.

The only problem I have with the Dual Link DVI Adapter from Apple is that its currently on back order NATION-WIDE.
No problem @ all with it if you don't mind the 4 - 5 Week wait!

Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work?
Mini Display to DVI
store.apple.com
Then DVI to Composite/S-Video

it doesn't work because the analog composite/s-video signals are not being sent through the mini-dvi cable. there's a lot of pins in the dvi plug and not all of them were used before, so they sent the analog signal through the unused lines. the new mbps don't have that signal going through them. the plug will be looking for a signal that isn't there.

Figured as much... thanks Twizzle
Off to buy VGA split and VGA cable $$$ - probably better that I upgrade anyway - just sooner than I wanted

Just got a call from my brother, he is at MacWorld right now and came across this
www.irecord.com
The only issue is it doesn't have a pass through, so once again in order to record at the club you would have to split the Composite signal....although, could I use the S-Vid to the projector and the Composite to the Recorder??

My guess is that all PCTV scan converters will work. That's why they are "converters" and not "adapters". You go in i.e. vga and it converts the signal to whatever else you need...
We have this one: www.centralpoint.nl
and yes, it works with the unibodies. All you need is the apple mini displayport to vga adapter to go to the converter.

ok,ok... been doin some research and found out that the NEW MBP's are a "pure digital output" which means that the output signal contains HDCP code, which is a first for apple. So if you are tryin to hook up into a anolog video input,i.e. composite,s-video, the input will not be able to contain the HDCP signal, therefore resulting in a black screen.
Now of course if you go to dvi or even hdmi to source, no problemo.
HDCP basically means it's only going to work on a digital signal only. The solution is finding a HDCP compliant product. www.hdfury.com. Haven't tried it but sounds like it would work cause what it does is strip the HDCP signal to "trick" the process to think it is putting the signal thru. you can go in hdmi and go out vga and get the vga to composite, s-video out cable from www.compusa.com. take a look and tell me what you think
