Is there a hot key or shortcut to sync a track running on one deck to the other one?

Just curious, why do you need a sync button?

Not totally accurate.......remember everyone asking/talking about what "Beast Mode" actually does on the 62 mixer? Well........

Would be handy with 4 decks.
2 decks synced up, the other two open for pellas / scratching / open format
Effectively blending 4 decks with pitch is cumbersome.

Agree wholeheartedly. But there's no way I'm dragging 4 turntables around :)

It'd be a lot more fun if there were 4 separate platters with 4 separate pitch adjustment controls, but alas, I've not seen a controller with these features...

I agree. 2 3900's and 2 Denon s1200's with the SL4 does the trick. Fits nice in a coffin. I for one still don't want sync when mixing 4 decks. If someone can't mix it without sync, then maybe they should go back to 2 decks.

Meh... it's there so I'm gonna use it when applicable, just like all the other DJ tech advances (crossfaders, built-in fx, split-cue, etc.). For straight mixing I think just dialing the pitch in manually or even turning on sync just to quickly match the numbers before immediately turning it off works better for me than using sync throughout; sometimes the beatgrids/bpms are wrong (especially when live instrumentation is involved) and it's nice to be able to adjust one song's pitch without automatically adjusting them all.

I'd say it also weighs heavily on what you're doing with those 4 tracks

I guess growing up and mixing on four 1200's and a Rane MP24 mixer must really make me old school then. Sync not needed if you can mix on a system like that.

cue point juggling a couple loops on decks 1 & 2, decks 3 & 4 scratching and juggling.
I don't think that was possible on your 4 1200's back then.

I'm just trying to point out some scenarios where syncing * a couple but not all * decks is a good option.

I don't think that was possible on your 4 1200's back then.
Actually, yes it was. Cue points back then were different colored stickers and scotch tape labeled at specific points on the record label and the actual playing surface of the record so you could just needle drop right at the edge of the scotch tape and the needle would "slide" right to the exact point of the start of the loop and then you would visually back cue based on the position of the different colored markers on the inside of the record label as it spun, usually starting at the 12:00 position. You'd be surprised what could be done when you didn't have computers back then.

Well, having come from "back then" myself....yeah I'm well aware.
So while you are needle dropping on your tape on 2 decks every measure, how are you also beatjuggling on 2 decks? You simply don't have enough hands to do it. One needle needs dropping while one hand is one a record and the other on a volume fader or crossfader
I think it'd be awesome to see, I certainly haven't seen any 4 turntable turntablism in eons. If ever.

That would be hard to do. I was just showing that it was possible to "cue point" drop without sync and without a computer.

I'd like to see that too... I've seen lots of 3-deck stuff but so far the only 4-deck turntablism videos/sets I've seen have involved at least 2 people.
This is assuming we're not considering Carl Cox or Roger Sanchez "turntablists", of course.

May not be considered turntablism, but I knew a guy who did some wacky shit with 4 1200's. On deck one, he had a song that was just over 133 BPM's. He used wite-out to mark the in and outs of beats and loops, and at the out of the loop he would put just enough wite-out so the needle would skip back after one revolution (he would have some records that did 2 revolutions), but the loop would be perfect because one revolution was exactly a one bar beat (33.3 rpm x 4 =133.2). Deck 2 had the same beat for juggling. Deck 3 acapella. Deck 4 for FX scratching. Sick shit.....

Not a good idea. He was not a big fan of odd numbers, especially 13. I'd bring 12. 3 for each turntable.....

I've seen Strictly Kev rock 4 decks. Three mixing, scratching on the fourth. Pretty impressive.
I used to rock 3 decks back in the day. I need to upgrade to an SL3 and an Empath... miss doing that!

I have yet to use sync but I can see how it would help me on the DDJ-SV because you can use 4 decks at once. Now I tried it and it's hard to keep things flowing on beat so now I see why sync and beatgrid are in place. Like I said I have yet to use it because I started on turntables and we all know that those folks hate sync. But one day when I find the time I will try the sync with beat grid and use 4 turntables at once. I bet it will be pretty sweet not having to worry about stuff staying on beat and just doing what you want.
BUT IF ON TWO's you better not be using sync....... FUdgers.
