I'm glad you asked that question. First let's be clear...
His claims were outlandish, but let's look at how crazy they were...
He took THE MOST FAMOUS DJ routine heard around the DJ world, (AND the real world), since it's the one that I said put DJ Jazzy Jeff in the mainstream eye when he did it with DJ AM. I said before that Jazzy Jeff's "Mainstream" popularity as a DJ exploded when he did that exact show with DJ AM. He's all over everywhere right now.... - but he took THE most famous DJ routine, and obviously had someone overdub and splice that video together....
That was the first call for attention. - Now since he said HE was the one who contacted Beamz, and HE was the one who created the vid, it could be possible he was just trying to bamboozle Beamz into thinking he's the DJ Air Guitar version of Jazzy Jeff, assuming he's just talking to "Execs" who don't know squat about real DJ'ing...
He straight up just could have been trying to hustle Beamz, but the vid got out...
That vid MAY have been solely intended for internal uses, period....
But regardless, he FAKED the routine, and I don't mean to say "bit" because ALL DJ's attempt that routine if they have Peter Piper...ALL of them..
Regardless, the level of the fakery was nothing short of playing another DJ's MixCD and calling it your own.
So you have the FAKING of the worlds most famous DJ Routine.
You have the issue of his name supposedly being "Stolen".
You have the issue of his "Logo" looking like Run-DMC's.
You have him saying the 8 Grammy thing.
You have him playing word games with saying he came up with Grandmaster Flash.
You have him saying he did XYZ with DJ Kool.
You have him saying he's been on Tour with everybody and their grandmother...
And the list goes ON AND ON...
Now if you LISTEN to how he talks, believe it or not, he's VERY well spoken aside from the claims he puts out there, so he's not stupid.
All of those claims are SO OUTLANDISH, that we KNOW they can't possibly be true, yes he may have had a crew back in the day named the Funky whatevers featuring Grandmaster Jay, but that's like ANY hood's crew...
How many crews from the Hood from back then, who NEVER MADE A RECORD, are listed on the internet?
Anyway, all those claims are SO OUTLANDISH, that SOMEBODY had to put him on blast - Jazzy Jeff, OR nobody would do anything, (like they normally do, as we see DJ's FAKE ROUTINES everyday, and nothing ever happens to them), and maybe Beamz would have cut him a nice check.
This was nothing more than dude trying to get attention either from Beamz, or just the world in general.
Now you ask, what's he gonna gain from it?
He's ALREADY a "Household name"...
He's "Apologized" to Hiphop AND DJ Jazzy Jeff himself.
He's had a 2 hour convo with Grandmaster Flash.
Somebody is going to keep interviewing him, he MAY wind up on someone's reality DJ show...
Can you imagine him on Master of The Mix?
Not for SKILL, but for the sheer attraction of the world wanting to see IF he can actually DJ?
This is the first time the HipHop community as a whole went on a mission and accomplished anything "Positive" on a large scale in a long time.
This MAY be something that can start the "conversation" of what to do to REALLY eliminate "Fake DJ's", and establish some uniform way of dealing with them...
Who knows? But I'm sure we haven't heard the last of him.
He did exactly what he said he was going to do....
He also said that after he DID get his name out there, that he would disappear back into obscurity, so he MAY do that...
Again, you have to realize that what he was saying was PURELY to get attention, and there are people out there trying to do that every day.
