I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 using the Serato Scratch Live 2.4.1 over the weekend. I was testing this week and noticed that when I cue a song on either deck using the MEP-7000 and use the touch sensitive jog wheel to get precise at the first beat of a song and try to set the CUE point it causes an unexpected result.
Steps
1. Load song
2. Play for a couple seconds then pause
3. Use touch sensitive jog wheel and move to the beginning of a beat
4. Hit cue (should lock in the cue point)
5. Hit play (nothing happens)
I did find out that it looks like Serato thinks the jog wheel still wants to do something because I can move back and forth with the wheel on the song, but if I hit play nothing. If I move the wheel and hit CUE while moving thru the timeline I can set a cue point and get the song to play.
The problem is that when you hit the play button the song does not play.
Here is what I did already
Verified latest software for Serato is installed and latest SL3 Drivers
Verified the latest drivers for the MEP-7000 are on the laptop
Not using a USB hub
Running Intel Chipset Core Duo w/ 8 GB Ram w/external Seagate HD
Replicated the problem on both decks to eliminate a hardware issue on either side of the MEP-7000
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,
This is actually a bug in Scratch Live that a few MEP users have brought to our attention. So don't worry it isn't a hardware problem.
Here is a similar issue that one of our MEP users had > serato.com
There is a workaround, you have to touch the platter lightly and the track should continue to play.
We realize this isn't a very helpful workaround, but we are looking at prioritizing the MEP-7000 to have a look at some of the bugs that exist.
I'm not sure what the timeline is on a fix for this unfortunately but its on their radar for sure.
Sorry I can't be more help, but I will log another bug in the database for the MEP.
Cheers

Thanks. I did find the workaround the other day and got it working. I am hoping that the Serato team really beats up the MEP to make sure its rock solid, because I have been using it for more than a year with mixed success. I love the software and what its capable of, but I need the reliability. I hope more and more MEP people speak up so the team realizes the impact.
thanks much for your response.

No worries Anthony,
The MEP is not one of our most popular controllers, hence the lack of love.
However we have been getting more and more people finding bugs with the MEP's so our developers should be looking into working on the reliability hopefully in the near future!
Sorry to be vague but that is all the info we have at this point in time.
I will close this thread for now, as I have logged a bug report.
Thanks a lot Anthony and we hope to have a fix for you soon!

Hi Scott:
Sorry, one more question... what are the most popular controllers that you support for Serato? I have been thinking about upgrading anyway, but I wanted to get a sense for what is supported and is used mostly by other DJs. I hear a lot of folks using the Denon controller, but if you could provide some info that would be great.
thanks,
Anthony

No worries Anthony,
If you are talking about the Denon DN-HC4500 then yes this is quite popular with our Denon users, they seem to like the interface (Personally I have never used it)
In terms of Scratch Live controllers, we have a list of certified equipment here > serato.com
You can use any midi controller with Scratch Live however, you just need to have the SL 3 box plugged in and something to control the Decks (Turntables or CDJs). A lot of users have a second midi controller with their setup to control effects, loops, samples etc.
We have another program called ITCH that uses midi controllers, but i see you already have the SL 3 so I would assume you would want to stay with Scratch Live instead of switching to ITCH.
Let me know if you have any other questions :)
