I know this has happened to a few people and this problem is very annoying.
When ejecting some mp4 files the tags are being re-written for no reason. How can I get this to stop?

Hi Steve Dub.,
Generally speaking this is caused by an mp4 file that does NOT support metadata or a bad mp4 file.
If you could try using MPEG Streamclip's 'Save As' function to .mp4 this will rebuild the container file which should result in a clean mp4 file. Once analyzed the file should now retain all tags and cue points and unless you write new tags or cue points the file should not re write on eject.
Test this workaround with a couple of the files that are re writing tags and let me know the result.
You could also double check that those files support metadata using movieinfobatch.

These are files from smash vidz. They know what they are doing so I'm assuming it's not my mp4 files.

Other reason for this is a corrupt databasev2 file SV crashed and since then i got writing tags on some files. Built new databasev2 file and all was fine.

Go into your serato folder in your music folder and find the file databasev2 and rename it to databasev2_OLD if you got an external do the same for that.
Please note this will change all date added to the date and time you do this. Also any tracks not in a crate i.e just in your all crate will be removed. After you have done this the length/time will be missing until you load a track to the deck or if you want reanalyze your hole library.

Nope they are stored in the file it self or in the metadata folder.

You homeys better be trying out the new beta..looks like some mpeg4 funkiness has been addressed.

Tried the beta last night and it SEEMED to work. I would like to use it live one more time in order to make a decision whether it fixed it or not.

Ya interesting that, Once you do all the work tag writing is gone unless you change something like make a cue loops edit tag info then of corse it will write tags on eject.

Hi Steve Dub.,
Sorry for the slow response here, we are super busy.
How are you getting on with the Scratch Live 2.4.2 Public Beta ?

Actually the public beta works great and my MP4's are no longer being re-written on ejection.

OK I was wrong, this thing is still re-writing tags. Did it all night yesterday.
Also I'm unable to re-name ssl so that I can install more than one version.

Hi Steve Dub.,
Could you please attach a couple of the files to this thread that you know are re-writing tags.
Just to clarify which version of Scratch Live are you trying to rename ?
This could be a sharing permissions issue on your Mac.
1) Get Info on the App
2) Open Sharing Permissions
3) Unlock the Admin settings by clicking on the lock icon.
4) Click the drop down arrow next to the 'settings' kog.
5) 'Apply to all enclosed items'.
You could check this on the root Application folder to apply to all.
This should now let you re-name the Scratch Live 2.4.2 Public Beta app.
If this does not work then we will look at other options.

That worked for re-naming ssl. Let me find some MP4s that are re-writing.
