hi

yust to report that since version 2.4.1 the id3 tags won't change with music bought from iTunes (m4a)

when I'm changing stuff to those type of files I must use an older version. (I use 2.3.3)

Are you trying to change the tags in SSL or iTunes?

I'll test this on my end in the meantime.
steven wynen 4:46 PM - 2 May, 2012
All files are on the hard disc of my MacBook.
And straight in serato scratch live. Without the use of iTunes.
iTunes is only used to Buy music.

Can you please upload one of these files via the blue 'attach a file' link in this thread?
I'd like to test with it.

Also.. what version of iTunes are you using?
steven wynen 5:35 PM - 2 May, 2012
the problem occurs only with m4a files that where imported in my previous versions (last one was 2.3.3 and before) of serato.
the new m4a files, that I import in 2.4.1 stay fine.

also
if I delete an m4a file out of serato (shift + cmd + delete),
and then re-import the same file (extract, copy out of serato before the delete),
then the file is ok after this procedure.

so I dont think it has something to do with the file
but I wil upload one in the next post (with my only-dj-use-macbook), straigt out of serato.

I use the newest version of itunes

so its not that big problem
because I normally change only tags of new imported files.
but because I'm busy to completely rearranging my library thats when I discovered the problem...

what I also discovered is, that when I change the tag of a wav file in 2.3.3, then the file becomes broken.
re-analyze or re-read tags has no effect.
when re-analyzed in 2.4.1 the file becomes back ok!
or change wav tag info in 2.4.1 is also ok!
(I used to use wav in the beginning of my serato period; 2005-2008)

so for now
when I work with (old) m4a files, I use 2.3.3
when I work with old wav (or new m4a, or any mp3) files, I use 2.4.1

but still, I think there is a problem with m4a files that are worked with in older versions. used in this last version.

(hope you understand my funny english :-)

ha.. ya oops.. your right.
It must be due to Serato updating the site.

Here are my written directions:

1. Completely shut down SSL.
2. Open your Macintosh HD drive.
3. Click on your 'Music' folder (you might need to click on the house icon to see your music folder).
4. Open the '_Serato_' folder.
5. Rename the 'databaseV2' file to something other than its original name. I usually rename it 'corruptdatabaseV2'.

If your using an external drive open the _Serato_ folder on your external and rename the databaseV2 file in there as well.

6. Re-open SSL.

If done correctly you will see your tags getting re-written at the bottom of the page.

Note: Rebuilding the databaseV2 file will revert all of the 'date added' dates to today's date and will delete any files out of SSL that aren't currently in a crate or playlist.

hi zach
i'm back after a busy weekend

just tested with the new databaseV2 file

it's not the solution for me...

1) a part of a bunch of tags is gone (nu prob, tested this on my second backup macbook)

2) the problem i describe in tis post is still there

- tags of m4a files that are imported with an older version of scratch live can't be changed in 2.4.1

-m4a files imported in 2.4.1 can be changed properly

(a temporary solution for me is, to use for those files version 2.3.3)

I downloaded the file you uploaded and have been trying to reproduce the problem.
Is there are specific part of the tag that isn't sticking?
I imported the file directly into SSL via the Files window as well as imported it into iTunes and had SSL read the iTunes library.
I'm not able to reproduce the problem using both operations.

Maybe create a video showing the process your using and upload it.

right,
new m4a files imported in 2.4.1 are fine
imported m4a files in 2.3.3 cannot be changed in 2.4.1

I will send you a little film when producing the problem
but, its a very busy week for me
give me a few days

Sorry for the delayed response. I was on a five day vaca:)

I see the issue. If you haven't already, try using the 2.4.2 beta here --> serato.com

Let me know if that does the trick.
