You need to analyze all files and delete all the corrupt ones. you have corrupt Video files causing a crash.


a 2 gig external? I didnt know they made them so small...or is it a 2gb Flash Disk?
If its a flash disk, this is probably the issue. Use a real external HD.

Have you re analyzed all those files in your current version of ScratchLIVE? If not - I would re analyze everything in this version.

Have you also deleted ALL the corrupt files?

There were only a few corrupt files that I recently added, the problem is this has been doing this LONG before I added these few files. I originally thought it was my control discs, but I used brand new ones. It only does it once a night and the rest of the night it goes smoothly. But it is embarrassing that one time no sound or video for about 20 seconds, then all is good. I removed those corrupt files , but I am sure it will happen again since these files are fairly neweer ones.

How do I rebuold overviews of corrupt files?

Highlight all the files in the ALL Crate and Drag n Drop then onto the Analyze Files button. This will force Analyze all Files again and make sure to delete ALL the corrupt ones.

Does this problem seem to happen at the same time everynight?

Yeah pretty much at the same time...very early maybe an hour into my set

You may have scheduled tasks running on your MAC> There is something called Automator and this may be scheduling a task to run at a specific time on your machine, which could be causing the USB drop out.

I have 200 or some corrupted files most are qudio mp3 only about 5 are videos. I tried to rebuld the overviews but they are all still there and corrupt. This never seems to happen when I am not doing a video show. Only the nights that I am doing video, but I will see if any of these delted helps. please keep this ticket open, I will let you know what happens this weekend.

Sounds good. I have faith that if you delete ALL corrupt files - the issues will stop.

after deleting the corrupt files the problem still exists. Now it is effecting not only my video shows, but now my audio only weddings. ALWAYS about early say an hour or an hour and a half into my set. the right deck stops playing for about 20 seconds. I can play the left immediately IF a track is already loaded, if not during this time both decks are locked out and not spinning but the left deck will play the song that was loaded only for about 10 seconds and then that deck stops. (Spinning Mac Wheel) Then decks reset and maybe will not happen the rest of the night. I also have noticed that it may only be happening in REL mode, after the 2 lockups last night, I switched to Now it may only happen for that length of time and only now twice a night, but it never did this before through 6 years of scratch live. Latency? USB drop off? never did this is version sl2.1 only after I upgraded to 2.2?? Please help. I really don't think it is my mac. 4 gb of ram dual core 2.4?

I have also noticed that NOW the column widths are locked and can not be moved. I deleted the windowpref and restarted , after that it did let me adjust column lengths but NOT in Prepare window, those field are locked and the only way they adjust is when you load a longer song title into the prepare window. I NEVER had these problems and now all of a sudden I am very nervous about using serato. I have spoken to a few others and they are saying the same thing about 2.2, how do I go back to 2.1? or are you guys fixing and upgrading to 2.3?

By the way, I see this guy had the same problem. It started in VSL and has now moved to my audio only shows as well...

Here is an update from last night. I was audio only (internal Hard Drive only with itunes library mirror) I wen the whole night without any issues, however I was in ABS mode when I usually prefer to remain in REL mode so that I can use my Korg Midi panel. The night before I did an audio only show in REL mode and using the Korg Midi and the issue happened twice. Do you think the midi controller can be the problem? Since yesterday it ran okay in ABS mode?


Also a DJ friend of mine was with me last night and he said that a possible reason that my column widths are resetting is because I also have ITCH installed on the same computer when I use my NS7. But I will say that the only column width that still will not let me adjust is the prepare window.

Yes. You could have a corrupt MIDI folder or the MIDI controller can be sending wierd signals causing a crash. Try deleting your MIDI folder and then remapping your device and test again.

There could be a MIDI bug within 2.2.0 - not sure. Test this by going back to 2.1 from here: serato.com

To go back to 2.1 do I need to rebuild all of my overviews?

No. All overview, Cue and Loop info should stay. The Lib will look the same.

Do I trash the 2.2 file? or just replace it in my application folder with 2.1?

Simply install 2.1.1 and once its done - open it from the Applications folder. Thats it.

OK new update....I am still having an issue with song stopping , wheel of death, can't load into any player. Last night (during a wedding) I had this happen and had to Hard restart my Mac (hold down power button to restart) could not force quit anything. Both players locked. After restarting computer everything was fine the rest of the night . I have weddings the next 6 weeks and I can't have this happen. since there seems to be no quick fix. Would it make sense to restart and rebuild all my music? It is mirrored to Itunes so it might not be a big deal. I know I will have tagging issues, but I need to fix this! I've deleted preferences, trashed midi preferences, rerouted midi many times. Then I stopped using the Korg midi altogether and went back to ABS mode. Same Issue. I even bought a power pack for the sl1 in case of usb drop off. SL1 was plugged in and still the problem last night. I am running all my audio on an internal hard drive. Could it be hard drive going bad? Overheating? I am running 4 gig of ram? PLEASE help me resolve this.

FYI. I also bought an NS& and was wondering if there could be an issue having itch and scratch on the same computer. I do not run both but I notice when I use itch the next time I use scratch it messes up all my fields and column widths. very frsutrating

If you would upload the crash log from when you had the midi controller installed, we would be able to look at that and see if it's a midi issue or a program issue. Go to Utilities->Console->Files and look for Scratch Live under CrashReporter.

To add to this:

If you can rebuild and re analyze your files - I would do so.

I would also move away from iTunes as it might be the one causing issues.

Next is yes - it could be the hard drive or overheating. I would get the computer tested for any errors, run disk utility and maybe install a fan control program to boost the fan speed.
