Here are things I've tried to resolve the problem and have been unsuccessful. I tried using another image in jpeg, png or jpg format and no differance. I run tex and image on both decks when I run video sl. I have downgraded to scracth live 2.0, and still the same problem. I downloaded the codac's suggested on ur site, and tried the movie info batch and still the problem persist. Under movie info batch I tried with the setting that siad one, I have not tried with it off. I have updated the windows. (Using windws ultimate). Nothing seems to work. The video sl output screen turns white, freezes & green lines flashes. Vsl will shut down and it will restart right away. When it restarts I have to add the tex and image again under effects tab. Scratch live seems to not be affected only video sl crashes. The crash happens between 45 mins to 1 and a half hours into the session. At first is fine but vsl is buggy, if I don't get help with this I will use other means to dj with video.

First off, I would lower your video quality to medium.
This setting is ahead of its time and may be part of your problem.
I know your computer is a beefy comp but I would change that for starters.
I would also boost your Performance buffer to 2 gigs.
If your still having issues I would guess the crashing is happening due to the videos your playing.
The next time a crash occurs please upload the video it crashed on via the red 'attach a file' link and we'll take a look at it.

everytime I try to upload the file it just freezes..well if there were things wrong with the video how do I fix it. I used handbrake to decode the videos using regular settings, I didnt know about the video sl preset untill later.

I have done what you suggested. I also tweaked some setting in ffdshow and ffdshow x64. I use quicktime as defult for video decoding. the video turns blank white and freezes. I will close the output window and it will pop up again and act normal (execpt the tex and image had to be added again). This problem always happens 45 min to 1 hour into the session.

Can you upload one of the problem videos to yousendit.com and share the link?

I went on yousendit.com. I have to type an e-mail address to were I want to send it. I dont know where to send it. I have tried the crashdump thing but I cant seem to access the crashdump info to try to attach it to the thread. I have installed it and clicked on SeratoLocalDumpsOn. I let serato run for about an 1 hour and the problem happen like always. The screen goes blank (all white) video freeze. I have to force close and it will reopen again. this is what Im doin.

Ok.. I downloaded the first file and didn't see anything wrong with it on my computer.
I re-encoded it using Handbrake and the Serato preset.
Please see if my newly encoded version does the same thing and let me know.

Can you verify you have the latest drivers for your video card?
May I chime in with a possible fix?
Make sure you are running Quicktime 7.6.2 as the newer versions have been known to crash using vsl. You can uninstall your current version on quicktime and run the installer for vsl 1.2 and it has quicktime 7.6.2 on there.
Try uninstalling your currently installed codecs first, the follow the instructions in the link below.

Please post your results on the question mentioned by Zach above and also if you try this method and its results are positive.

If the file I sent you plays fine then I'm going to guess these crashing issue are due to how your files have been encoded.
Please re-encode the problem files using Handbrake and the Serato preset.
That should fix your issues.
Read this article regarding Handbrake --> serato.com
You will need to download and use the previous version of Handbrake (0.9.4) found here --> www.oldapps.com
The Serato preset will not work with the newer 0.9.5 version.

isnt there any other solution because I would have to encode over 15,000 videos. the video's that I sent you sometime works fine. The main problem is when I play for 1 to 2 hours VSL crash no matter what video Im playing. Have you seem anything with the dumpfiles I sent?
Zach S
11:02 PM - 4 March, 2011
Unfortunately I cannot read the dumpfiles but I will get the Serato support to check them out. In the meantime I would definitely try Culprit's suggestion and let us know your findings.

I have redownloaded video sl. I have unistalled my quicktime and now iam using quicktime 7.6.2 and I used force quicktime to be the main decoder. I ran it for 4 hors Saturday. Here's what happen, the video would freeze on one side but when I clone the deck onto the other side it would fix it, and run normal. I have the buffer at 2 gb for video, quailty medium, v-synce off, frame blending off. I'm using an image and tex effect. The video stutter or freezed like 3 times, I fixed it when I clone the decks so both sides have same mp4. Weird. Is there somthing I need to do to make vsl not crash or freeze

I know i should start a new thread and not jump in, but i would just like to say, that i am having the exact same problem. I recently bought a new Dell XPS 15 with an i7 processor, Nvidia 435m (2gig) & Windows 7 64 bt.
One side stops playing video's, stutters a bit and sometimes crash's. Other times my secondary monitor just goes white. I have tried the same things as Lusinky. It seemed to be working ok for a few days and after i made a few updates this problem started to happen.

Lets try uninstalling serato, restarting, and reinstalling serato 2.0 and report back your results.

ya, i have done that, still the same problems. Actualy i got a stranger reaction using 2.0. The video i was playing started to show some green area's around the screen before it crashed

I reanalyed my mp3's and mp4's. I found that all my videos are ok but found that I have over 158 corrupt mp3's. I deleted the corrupt mp3 right away. Is that why my vsl kept crashing and videos freeze somtimes. I have done what longy did, downgraded to scracth live 2.0, reinstalled VSL, same problems occured. Maybe it was my corrupt files that was making vsl go crazy, will setting cpu priority to high change anything. I will report back once I deleted all my corrupt files and run a test.
Culprit

I do not believe it is recommended to set the priority rate to high but I would wait for an official response.

I have deleted all the corrupt files. Restarted the computer. Ran serato for 40 mins. And the output screen froze. I tried to minimize it then put it back to full screen on the tv and screen went white. I can't believe I have a state of the art computer, and tried for 2 weeks to solve this problem and the only conclution from serato is to encode all my videos with handbrake again (over 15000 vidz) using the vsl preset. Vsl is not what I thought it was.

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you but files that aren't encoded properly will cause this issue.
To know for sure that the issue is the files your playing I would suggest clearing out your Scratch Live library and only importing files we know have been encoded properly.
You can either encode a handful of files using Handbrake and the Serato preset or you can download these test videos here --> www.serato.com
Test with just those files in your library.
If VSL doesn't crash using those files then the problem is going to be the way some of your 15000 files have been encoded.
There is no easy solution to that other than reconverting the files you run into that are causing the crash.
If VSL still crashes with these test files then the issue is something else.
At this point this is the test I would suggest doing.
You can clear out your current SSL library by shutting down SSL, and re-naming the _Serato_ folder located in your Music folder on your internal drive so it reads _Serato_1.
From there, make sure to unplug any external hard drives you may be using.
Now open SSL and you should have a completely empty library.
NOTE: To get your original library back you'll need to shut down SSL, delete the newly created _Serato_ folder in your Music folder, and rename the _Serato_1 folder back to its original _Serato_ name.
Let me know your findings:)

I have done the same, no luck!! Actualy it has made things worse. Now when vsl crashes, it brings down Serato with it. I get an error saying the program has stopped responding and i cant exit out of program. I need to go open task manager and close down vsl, then after a few seconds Serato starts again. (The audio continues to play during this period but the program hangs). Also using 2.0 means no Dicers!!! which i can no longer live with out!!
I will start converting my videos now. I only have 700 but i am not keen on the idea of starting a whole new Library. My import dates are very important to me. (I'm persuming i can copy the crates over to my new Library).
