With all these scary updates just wondering if 10.5.5 has been tested. I am still at 10.5 and I am hoping to get an iphone and play Spore on this mac at some point? Any ideas if 10.5.5 is working right or not?

someone has answered this somewhere else in the forum I believe, From what I have read:

works fine but the fat32 external drive problem still exists with tracks loading slow. So Serato has not "officially" said it is supported but I think if you do not use fat32 externals, you should be fine, I am on it now and it works good

I bought Spore as well for my daughter and that game would not work on any of my Windows machines. Only on my Macbook Pro but I had to update from 10.5.1 though. I couldn't break my daughters heart so I updated to 10.5.5 to make it work.

Anyway, I tested my Fat32 USB powered external drive for about an hour and did experience any dropouts. The only thing I noticed is that each track took about 2 seconds to load and the screen would freeze during this 2 second wait. I did try to load a bunch of tracks back to back on one player while the other was playing and again no dropouts, only the screen would freeze.

I did buy a new USB powered external and that is Mac formatted just to be on the safe side.

Sorry, meant to say "did NOT experience any dropouts"

sj unique, not sure if you know this but the fat32 issue is a known issue around the forum, I think it has been 10.5.4 and 10.5.5 that have the slow loading tracks on a fat32 drive,

Hopefully Apple will fix this in 10.5.6

For me 10.5.5 in combination with 1.8.2 works fine, no problems discovered... But must say: I always keep OS X as much original as possible, like no hacks, 3rd party software which "cleans" or "optimizes" the system, etc...

Yeah I knew.
Just giving Luminous my observations.
I was never really that worried about updating my Mac.
I always have a backup Windows lappy and extra externals just in case.

gotcha,,, nice, I always keep my extra macbook with me as a backup too
