i currently have about 50,000 songs in my scratchLIVE library i have a macbook 2.0 ghz core 2 duo & 2 gigs of ram....i' v been a dj for about 20 years now i play all kinds of genres .....if i kept importing all of my music (i have a hole lot) vinyl , tapes, etc...by the time i' m done i will have around 80,000 to 100,000 songs in my library

so how much is to much???...........how much music can you really have in your sracthLIVE library before it starts to affect scracthLIVE's perfomance and stability?

thank guys!!

The more music you have it might make it harder for your harddrive to function properly and quickly.

SSL does not make copies of files, it just references where the files are at.

So I guess the question would be, how much is too much for your HD.

lets say i wanted to use a 1.0 TB 7200 rpm drive eshop.macsales.com

will it still overwork the hard drive even if there is alot of space left on the drive?

Hard to tell. This drive has extra USB and firewire plugs -- which could lead to it overheating/malfunctioning if you end up plugging many things into it. SO it all depends how you use the drive I guess.

well i would not plug anything in to the drive my set up would be......

macbook serato box plugged into one usb , my logitech mouse in the other usb , and the hard drive plugged the firewire

nothing more than that

You should be fine. Just make sure this drive if formatted MAC Journaled and not Fat32 -- to avoid latency issues.

yes ....i will

so is the answer to the original question........."how much is to much".........

you can have how ever much music you want in you library provided you have a big hard drive the will have plenty of space?

thanks.....
