Hi,

I have iTunes up and running on my PC with around 3,000 MP3's all organised into playlists and working fine.

I've just bought an external 3.5" HDD and basically want to be able to take my iTunes collection on the road with me when I play gigs. I've tried and tried and tried this but I'm now starting to pull my hair out!! I guess in the end I will just used my External HDD on my PC and mac.

It's formatted to FAT32 by the way.

How can I do this? I really don't want to risk losing all my songs!

Can someone please help?

You should be able to copy the "itunes music" folder which is located within the "I-tunes" folder. Usually that is in you "my music" folder.

Since you are making a copy, it will still be in the location for the computer you currently have them on.

Are you taking the same laptop with you on the road?

Thanks Chad.

Yes it's the same G4 Powerbook that I'll be using for each gig.

I don't think your suggestion will work though. I forgot to mention that I use 'import iTune playlist' facility in order to use my arranged tracks.

there is a known "slow load time" issue with Mac and externals formatted in FAT32. If you are using it for both PC and MAC, you options are limited. If you are using it strictly for the Mac, I would reformat it to "Mac Journaled" if you have the problem.

Do you have I-tunes currently on our G4 that you are taking on the road?

Yes I have iTunes on this already.

So how do I take my iTunes MP3's and playlists from my PC and put them onto the external HDD?

And then take them with me on the road for use on my G4?
