hi, everythings been working fine right up untill today but now a huge problem..
i picked a song and played it on deck a... i then tried to mix in another song from the same album on deck 2. Strangely the second song was considerably quieter. I mean the first song was trimmed at about 12oclock, but the second was much quieter even with trim at maximum.
Stange yes, but i just put a comment to remind me about how quiet the track is, and then tried another tune... same thing again. And it goes on. It's every song, every release.
The first one loads ok and then is the only song that will play at normal volumes. All subsequent loaded songs load at extremely reduced gains and i have no idea why.
It makes no sense to me. I can take one single release of 2 songs. Start with track 1 and it plays fine, load up track 2 but track 2 will be quiet. Restart itch. Load track 2 first this time and it plays fine. Then load track 1 to the other deck and its really quiet.
Really hope somebody has an idea whats going on :(
(ps - i have autogain off)

I just tried turning the autogain on and that "fixes" the issue. i dont need to have the trim up full just to get somewhere near the middle of the VU meter. However the moment i turn autogain off its back to square 1 and really i prefer to trim than to use autogain cos then i know its going to be right instead of just hoping for the best.
I must stress once again that it was working perfectly fine yesterday.

Hey porps,
What are the levels set to of each track in ITCH?
Also does this happen only on the right deck or left deck or is any either?

hi im not exactly sure what you mean with the track levels, but it does happen on either deck.
also for an example, i can play song 1 first and it is fine, yet it if i play it as the second track the volume is reduced, so i dont think its anything to do with the actual volume of the file (if thats what you meant by track level)

If it's happening regardless of the first deck, be it left or right that sounds like it's not the internal level in ITCH. I'll do some tests and let you know what i find. If you could send me a video showing be that would help too.

It could be a hardware fault, best way to know is trying another computer if it does it there too you may have a faulty TWITCH however if not then we need to look at your computer and ITCH setting individually.
Let me know

ok i sort of know whats going on now....
when i load up a tune and it's playing really quiet as i described for some reason the track volume is being set to the minimum setting on loading.. i can see it if i load the song into the sp-6, the volume knob in the bottom right of the sample cell is set all the way to the left. So i turn it back to about 50% and the tune plays ok, but then on next load its back to 0 again.
If i load the same song into offline mode the volume control is centered at 50% yet it plays as if its at 0.
The manual claims that track gain can be set from offline mode with this knob but i dont know if thats outdated (the picture looks different) or just wrong, either way it doesnt seem to work as described, but perhaps with this new info you can help me fix the problem. At least i hope so.
Also i should point out that certain tracks always play at normal volumes whereas others seem to have a mind of their own as i explained.

Hey porps,
I'm wondering if it maybe related to the Auto Gain setting or some kind of issue with the analyzing of your overviews.
Could we try a test?
1)Make a crate of some of the songs which are showing to be problematic. No more than 10 tracks.
2) Make sure that Auto Gain is disabled in the setup screen.
3) Analyzed those tracks in the new crate.
4) Test them by loading them each to deck and playing them.
Let me know how you get on.

i did as you asked but it's made no difference, they are still quiet and the volume of the tracks are all still set to the minimum setting if i load them into an sp6 sample slot.
Is there a way to manually adjust that track volume?

well actually i know its possible now cos ive masnaged to permanently adjust it for 2 of the tracks but it seems quite random...
What i did was loaded a track onto a deck, then loaded into into the sp6 and turned the volume up up there, then unloaded it from both and reloaded it to a deck again. mustve done this about 30 times, and on 2 of those occassions the track volume has actually stuck and the files now play at normal volumes. however i havent yet been able to work out a pattern as to why it would work sometimes and not others.

the next thing i tried was to repeat the steps described in the last post but this time with auto gain turned on. This seems to work and the track gain sticks to what i set it to.
I've just tried it without loading to a deck at all and it works still.
So the steps im taking are -
turn auto gain on
load track into sp6
turn up the track gain in the sp6
unload from sp6
and then the file is sorted.
I still dont know what caused them to get reduced to 0 in the first place and it all seems a little unintuitive if not downright glitchy, but at least i have a solution : )

Good to hear you found a work around. I'm not to sure why that is happen, with this work around do you still have to reset the volume of the track in SP6? You shouldn't have to load the track in the first place. I wonder if you 'Auto Gain' on and re-analyze the files and use auto gain are they ok?

i just tried doing that but it didnt make a difference. I'm currently going through my entire collection, loading each track into an sp6 slot and adjusting the track gain if it's zero'd. Not exactly the most exciting of tasks. On the plus side i've finally used a macro button on my keyboard for something (cursor down, alt+ctrl+c) - this moves down to the next song and loads it to the sp6, so i can just keep pressing it untill i see a track thats zero'd and then adjust that track... i think this way is quicker than reanalysing anyway.
Hopefully after i've sorted all my tracks this issue doesnt reoccur, that will be very frustrating! But for now i think it's solved :) Thanks for the help
