I just got my PadKontrol last week. I mapped the pads to loops and cuepoints but the problem is the mappings disappear everytime i exit out of SSL. I even tried to save a MIDI preset after mapping the pads. The preset would remain if I exited SSL but there are no mappings even after I load the preset. I have to remap everything again. What am I doing wrong?

I'm using version 1.8.1. I read up on the read only tip with the \My Documents\My Music\ScratchLive folders and files. And there is a MIDI folder which I made sure was not read-only. the XML files in the folders had just one line on the files
</ MIDI>
and thats it. So I deleted the files and proceeded to run SSL. I save a new preset after remapping just a few pads and then closed out of SSL. I noticed new XML files were created again. One for the preset and a default one. Both files still were the same as before just with the one line. I reopened SSL and none of the mappings were saved. I guess I just need to know how to write the XML file so I can do it manually. If there is any file you want me to post lemme know.

same problem over here. Since updating 1.8.1. on my macbook pro it wont load the midi mapping for my microkontrol. Does not matter if its connected before or after starting scratch live. So its a general problem with 1.8.1?!?

thanks for the info guys, we're checking out the MIDI problems with 1.8.1, you should see some improvements in an upcoming release.
we'll post back if we have some more questions, in the mean time please let us know if you find out anything else interesting, cheers :-)

OK sounds like it's a Korg specific issue... not that we can't fix it at our end... hopefully we'll have some more details shortly.

I have exactly the same issue. Preset xml files get saved with nothing other than </ MIDI> in them.
Using a Novation Nocturn on XPSP3 and Serato 18120.

so maybe a way to make it work so far... installed besides the 1.8.1 version also the 1.8. version. Save the mappings in the 1.8. version and the mappings will also be loaded when opening the 1.8.1. version. then it works...

When I use the 1.8 to map MIDI it does save (some have postfixed data_type="Absolute 14" while others don't).
Out of the 16 saved less than half actually work on load of 1.8.1 and 1.8.
Also removed the data_type="Absolute 14" on all the lines that had it, still did not have an adverse effect.

I think I've been having the same problem, none of my midi setting will save for my microKontrol.

I've lost midi settings since upgrading from 1.8 to 1.8.1. I use the Akai MPD24 so unfortunately I don't think it is specifically a Korg issue.

How did things work out with this, any luck?
If you didn't get it going with the Public Beta, the final version of 1.8.2 has now been released, you can get it here: scratchlive.net - MIDI preset saving should be all good in that release.
