This is on a fresh install of OSX Lion 10.7.3, I have a SSD as my OS drive and a 7200RPM 500GB drive (that was my OS drive previously) as my data drive. My music resides on the secondary internal drive (the 7200rpm drive).
I've tried SSL 2.3.3 and 2.4.1, this behavior occurs on both either with the SL-1 box connected or without. all my tracks are pre-analyzed.
With no real pattern I can discern, I'll drag a track to play and SSL will just sit there. The track doesn't load for 15-30 seconds. If I try to load that same track later on, it will load normally but at a later date/time it will hang again.
Additionally sometimes a track shows as being fully loaded, then will stop mid track.
I moved most of my library to my SSD and these issues do not occur.
I do use ScratchTools to import my folder structure into my library as crates, but haven't had any issues with this for years.

Hey SwatchDogs,
Have you analyzed all the files on the secondary drive? Is the secondary drive a partition, or an actual separate drive?
When you say you hadn't had this issue up until now, is there anything you can recall that you have changed e.g update of the OS? Update of Scratch Live? Did you just purchase the secondary internal drive?

Hi Martin,
All the files have been previously analyzed. The secondary drive is a 2nd physical drive. I've got 2 hard drives in my macbook. The OS is on the SSD, the music is on my 7200rpm 500GB hard drive.
the 500GB 7200rpm drive was my only hard drive in the macbook, then I purchased a 128GB SSD, I backed up my music to my network storage, then pulled the 7200rpm drive out and put the SSD in. I moved the 7200rpm drive to the optical bay. I installed OSX on the SSD, then formatted the 7200rpm as Mac OS Extended (journaled) and copied my music file back to it.

As a test I copied my library to my external USB hard drive, imported the crates with ScratchTools and attempted to load tracks. There were no hanging problems.

Ok and so what about loading tracks from the main drive, the one you have Scratch Live installed on?
What about loading tracks from the secondary drive WITHOUT using ScratchTools?

From the main drive (the SSD) the same tracks all load without any issues. I've used ScratchTools to import my folders and files into SSL on every drive, but only my secondary internal drive seems to have an issue.
I haven't been able to test the secondary drive without ScratchTools because it would mean re-creating tens (if not hundreds) of crates for my 9,000 track library for it to be accurate.
I did force a re-analyzing of all my tracks (ctrl + analyze button) and the problem remained.

What is the capacity of the secondary drive? How much free space is left?
Are you unable to just try importing 10 or so files without ScratchTools?
