While playing decks, my signal bar drops and causes the song to drop out. It's more like a "crackle" type sound, that shows static for a split second, then it seems to go back and forth from 100% down to as low as 83%. I thought this was just my needles or time codes, but after buying new ones, I'm still experiencing this problem. I've tried to lower my monitor speakers down while mixing and the problems still persist no matter how low the volume is. I have this problem with my SL-3 box as well. I'm using Technic 1200s.

Hey RR,

It definitely looks like a tracking issue.
My guess is its either an issue with the needle, connection in the cartridge, the connection between the cartridge and the tone arm, the height and/or weight of the tone arm isn't set correctly for the type of needles you're using, or an intermittent short coming from the turntables.
To rule in or out any of that I would suggest testing the inputs of your 62 with a cd player.
If you do, make sure you change the dipswitches on the back of the mixer to "L" for line.

If you don't experience this issue when using cd players than the issue is definitely with the turntables.

Hi Zach,

Thanks for your reply. I thought the same thing, so not only did I buy me some brand new 447s, but I also bought new timecodes and still had the problem. The connection from cartridge to headshell looks fine, and unless it is something internal that I can't see (which I had someone check out for me who refurbs 1200s, and was told that the tone arm was good), everything looks to be ok.

Let me ask you, is the signal bar supposed to stay at full gray at all times if you have a good signal, or is a little bit of red every now and then okay like in the file i attached? I did move my monitor speaker from directly under the coffin to across the room, and that seemed to help a little but I am still getting signal loss every now and again. I don't have cdjs.

Any cd player would work for testing. No.. the tracking indicator won't always be gray.
It will go into the red when you scratch or if the tracking drops for whatever reason.
You shouldn't have any audio issues as long as the tracking stays above 80% though.
I would highly suggest testing with a cd player.
