just recently purchased ddjs1. During a gig this weekend i loaded a file from the right deck to the left deck. Itch froze and the music started cutting up and stalling and then came to a stop. It happen to me twice. saved myself by connectintg an ipod to aux. Also as i changed the effects from the contoller, it made the music stutter. i hae a macbook pro 13in 2.3 ghz icorei5 processor and 4 gb memory. Help please.

Hi there DJ_SAMURAI,
You say you loaded a file from the right deck to the left deck, what did you mean by this? Were you trying to create instant doubles? Or a double-up of a track?
Are you able to recreate the issue at home? Can you recreate every time or does it just happen randomly?
The more info you give me the more chance I have of diagnosing your issue :)
Thanks!

Hey sorry about the double post. Yes i was creating instant doubles and itch froze. I recreated the same moment at home and it didnt happen this time. I read through the forums and deleted my database making sure i have no corrupt files. I also moved the usb buffer latency to the right to 5. I tested it for a couple of hours today and didnt run into this problem. The only thing is that the limiter indicator keeps popping up and my cpu usage keeps skyrocketing. I dont have wifi on and i am not running any other programs besides itch. Ive used ssL for years now and have. Ever had a problem with it. The ddjs is so convenient due to size and i can keep my 1200s home. What else can i do

Have you got the master volume in ITCH set to a very high level? Is the limiter engaging even at a very low level?
Can you send me a screenshot of the ITCH screen when the limiter is on and the CPU is skyrocketing?
Cheers

FOR THE SECOND PIC I HAD THE MASTER COMPLETELY TURNED DOWN. channels A and B were redlining but the master was not

Is the CPU usage always like that? Or does it fluctuate up and down over the course of a song?
Hmm this is a weird issue. I have a pioneer DDJ-S1 here and I am trying to replicate the issue but can't seem to understand what is going wrong.
How did you know that channels A and B were redlining if the master was turned down?
If you are talking about redlining on your S1 controller, then you have to turn the "TRIM" knob down on each channel.

The cpu usage fluctuates. But i don't think it should be going that high if Im not really doing anything. I fear that the program will freeze on me during a gig. i wanna see if theres a way to control the cpu usage. The light for the channels are red on the controller. The trim is only half way. I have a djm 400 and djm 600 and i usually keep it right around there also.

The DJM-400 and the DJM-600 are both professional DJ club mixers, the DDJ-S1 is only a MIDI controller, this will have a hotter signal as it is a bare MP3 or WAV going straight from the computer to the controller with no pre-amp. This will result in a higher line output.
You should adjust the trim so they are less than half way, just because they are both Pioneer products does not mean they have the same amount of signal passing through them. Moving the trim down lower won't affect anything other than the master channel output so it won't hurt to have them a little lower. It is better to have the trims down that redline every track!
As for the CPU bar, thats a weird one. I can't seem to pinpoint what is making your computer use so much CPU. Are you able to go into your Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor, and run this monitor while your playing a track in ITCH and see if the CPU meter in the activity monitor is approximately the same as the one in ITCH? I just want to see if OSX is picking up this CPU usage rather than just ITCH.
Cheers

I have a DDJ-S1 here and for me to mix under the reds I have to keep the Trim at about the 10 O'Clock position. I mix heavy dance music so these tracks are usually mastered a lot louder than traditional tracks.

Hey Scott. Lowered the trims, so far so good. Didn't have much time to test run. i am attaching screen shot of cpu bar and activity monitor. every time i load a song the cpu bar jumps up. I notice there is no (64 Bit) next to itch. could that be a problem?

Scratch Live and ITCH are only 32bit programs, so thats why there will be no 64bit next to them.
Do you have Auto-gain enabled in the ITCH Setup menu? It will be under the "Playback" tab.
Also, under "hardware", have you changed the USB buffer to a higher number than 5?
Cheers

Auto gain is on 92 and usb is on 5 will test it higher today and get back to you. Would you recommend starting the mac up on 32 bit? I remember in the past when i bought the new mac ssL would not read the hardware connecting to ttm57 so i was forced to start up on 32 bit. Could it be an itch issue?

It shouldn't really matter which bit version you start up in, but can you try boot up in 32bit mode and let me know if it helps?
If it does seem to help then there might be other 64bit processes that is making your CPU usage jump like that.
Let me know!
Cheers :)

Sorry to hop in this discussion but I created a discussion about the same problem 1 month ago and didn't get any solid answers. I did everything DJ_SAMURAI did with the buffer size and corrupt files. Itch freezes when i'm switching through my sp banks A, B, C and D... Im in fear of switching thru my effects at gigs. Is this a problem with the program?

A simple google search will find these:

Try booting up in 32bit mode, then starting ITCH and let me know if the problems are still apparent.
Cheers! :)
