Installed the software disk on my pc 64bit windows 7 and worked fine for 2 days. Now everytime I open up Itch to use my ns7fx it says "Hardware Disconnected". I have not made any changes to my computer not settings. My ns7fx is not registeing as via "usb". I have istalled the software disk on another computer just to see if it would work and I had the same exact issues with the other. Keeps saying Hardware Disconnected.

Hi DjItch,

Do you have any other USB devices connected to your computer? e.g external drive/mouse?

If you remove every other USB device (including the NSFX unit) and have JUST the NS7 connected, does it show up?

Had you perhaps recently updated the firmware within ITCH for the NS7?
DjItch 10:39 PM - 28 May, 2012
Yes, I had other USB devices. I have tryed it with them plugged in to my pc, without them plugged in to my pc, and also with them (drivers) deleted from my pc all together. And yes I DID allow the firmware to be updated and I am strongly sure that that is my issue. My ns7 is recongized via USB and the little led red indicator light comes on as well. Just keeps saying "hardware disconnected". It seems to be a problem with Serato Itch Software and the firmware update. Somehow when my ns7fx Firmware was updated, Serato no longer seen the controller as if it wasnt even there. My next step is to return my product for a new one and NOT update the firmware by going into the settings for the software and opting out of the automatic updates. If there was a way to revert my firmware back, I would be able to skip the process of returning my ns7fx all together...

At this point it is a hardware issue(once the firmware was updated). I have built 3 pc's, and the same thing happened on all 3 "harware disconnected". I finally went out and bought a bad ass I-5 intell laptop with plenty of processing power and ram and still had the same issue. Apparently the firmware is written on the ns7fx itself and thats why it will not work with any computer.

Correct, the firmware is like "software" on the hardware, it isn't something on the computer. So if it is an issue with your firmware, then it would be expected that the NS7 will have problems when trying to connect to any computer.

Was there any kind of problem when you did the firmware update? Perhaps an accidental disconnection of the USB? Disconnection of the internet during the process?

Are you able to use the NS7 as a sound device? You can go to Control Panel > Sound, which gives you the option to select the NS7 as a playback device (assuming it is working correctly)

You could then play any other application (but not ITCH) on your computer, like itunes for example, and have the sound come through the NS7. Are you able to test this?

yes yes yes yes yes. I can use it as a sound card but as far as a software controller for the Itch Software, it is useless. Sorry to sound like a jerk but I have contacted Numark Tech support several times and they all keep telling me to check these setting or chech those settings. It works as a soundcard, nothing else. My cpmputer detects it via usb, but not the software(Itch) It WILL NOT work as a software controller for itch becasue of the firmware. And no I DID NOT unplug the usb during the firmware update nor was my Enternet connection disrupted. Somehow the new firmware update does not allow the controller to work with the software. I have tryed 3 different types of Seato Itch, 3 versions, and this on 4 different computers, and I have even taken the controller into Guitar Center to have them hook up(JUST MY CONTROLLER) to their computer on display(with no enternet connection) and it still would not work. I was told to return my controller for a new one and to change the settings on my computer to NOT allow it to automatically update anything and give Numark/Serato time to fix this glitch hundreds of people are having. Ps, I know everyones computers are not the same, but like I have said, I have used/tryed it on on 5 different computers one of which is a macbook pro and still had the same issues.

Understandably, that is a frustrating situation.

Good to hear you tried all those things though, especially testing on different computers. This is usually a tell tale sign that something has gone wrong with the hardware as it is not specific to the computer or the software.

I have come across the occasional issue when updating firmware, but I would not say hundreds of people are affected by this very issue. Having the unit not connect in general however, can be caused by many different reasons, which I do come across more frequently.

For whatever reason it does sound like the firmware update has caused issues for you. Is your unit still under warranty? Either way, if you were to take it to an authorized Numark repair person, they should be able to confirm that this was definitely cause, and either repair or replace the unit.

Let me know how you get on!

What about when I get my new hardware. Should I go to serato's site and download itch 2.2 or should I just use the 1.4.1 software disk that comes with my new unit? Reason I am asking is because I would hate to download the 2.2 and it update the firmware. Also, when and if I install itch 2.2, does that download come with the drivers or do I need to also go to Numarks site to download the 64bit drivers.

Hi DjItch,

Definitely download the latest version of ITCH, version 2.2. The drivers are included in the software, so should install as long as you have the NS7 connected during the install process.

Your new hardware should be running the latest firmware when you get it also, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Let me know how you get on!

Did you try reinstalling the Numark USB audio driver? Check Device Manager to see if USB Numark has an exclamation mark on it.
Howie B 5:58 PM - 5 June, 2012
I installed Itch 2.2 and it knocked out my Numark USB audio driver. So i un-installed version 2.2 and installed an older version, reinstalled the Numark USB driver and it worked fine. If you have a hardware disconnected error, check the USB driver.
