I had everything hooked up and running great, the music was playing and I decided to move the serato sl1 box over a few inches to the right. when I picked it up the sound got all scratchy and sounded bad. when I put it down it continued. So I just moved it a little more to make it flat on the table. When I did that the sound when back to normal and was fine so once again just for a test, I nudged the box and it was all scratchy again. My question is, does the serato sl1 box need to be on a completely flat and balanced surface? I never had this prob before

Also now the right deck wont play. Left is fine, Right is going backwards, I use turntables with vinyl, I tried switching the audio cables around , no go. I checked the scopes and the right is a horizontal line. This just happenend out of nowhere, I've been problemless for 6 months and now I'm stumped. Know anything?

I've been messing around with it again and I figured out that when I move the sl1 box around to the right spot its fine, but its a pain to do that. I use to be able to just have it anywhere. Do you know why it's doing this?

Hey djinclinator,
The Rane SL1 box can be lying in any preferred way, it does not have to be in a specific position.
In terms of the scratchy & glitching sounds, there may be a wiring or grounding issue. Please check that your RCA cables are not faulty, if possible, try using other RCA cables to see if the problem reoccurs. In addition, check that your earth/grounding wires are connected to the mixer. Alternatively, there could be a problem with the RCA cables that run out of your Turntables?
The horizontal line on the right side means the right channel is absent. Please check your needles are not obstructed or faulty. If the needles are attached to head shell's, check that the little wires from the head shell to the cartridge are not faulty or burnt out.
Please check these things first and let me know how you go.

I just tested all rca cables and they all work. I then tested the turntable rca's by plugging them into the phono jacks and played a vinyl record with no problems

I'm using Ortophon cartridges and stylus. I've switched the right side with a numark back up and it still does the same thing.

It seems like it would be a loose or bad wire, because of moving the box around until it's fine. Or maybe usb? What do you think?

Hey djinclinator,
Yes, please try another USB 2.0 cord if you can.
Could you also describe the scratchy/static sound you are getting? Is it random outbursts? or more of a consistent sound?

Okay so I switched usb cables and it still happening. The right side is going backwards and the leftside plays. But as I move the box around the left side starts up with the scratchy/static that stays on until I move the box around until it plays fine. As far as the right its just going backwards and not playing. Any suggestions?

I'm really starting to believe its the serato box. I've only had it for a year and have never dropped it or anything. This has never happened before.

Hey djinclinator,
I see you have your right side going backwards, which means you have your RCA cables around the wrong way. Try swapping them around.
Once you have swapped them around, please take a screen shot of your scopes while the turntables are playing.

I've already tried doing that. They are not the wrong way. When I do swap them around, the scope on the right just shows the horizontal line vertically.

Ok so for a long part of today both sides stop working, I just got the right side to work again, the left now will work in INT but still not in REL. Do you know where the Latency should be at?

Hey djinclinator,
Your screen shot now shows the right side with the green line in a vertical position (left channel missing), which leads me to believe that there is a problem with your turntables or perhaps a connection problem, rather than a problem with the Rane SL 1 box.
What kind of Turntables & Mixer are you using?
Please ensure:
Left Turntable -> input 1 of Rane SL1
Right Turntable -> input 2 of Rane SL1
Line Output 1 from Rane SL1 -> Phono Input of (Channel 1)
Line Output 2 from Rane SL1 -> Phono Input of (Channel 2)

Quick question too, I've been reading about Serato not recommended for AMD Athion which is what I'm using, It's been over a year and I've never had a problem with using it, could it be that over time these kinds of results could happen? Just curious?

Also I bought an ac adapter for the box, and the store clerk gave me the wrong tip. After I plugged it in and the green light didn't go on, this is when all of these problems started happening. I know that seems unlikely but could that cause a problem, just thoughts.

Hey djinclinator,
Sorry to be a pain, but could you please connect your setup again and take a photo of your scopes whilst playing and also take a photo of your main screen (Scratch Live interface) whilst playing.

What does your main screen (Scratch Live interface) look like?

Hey djinclinator,
I can see your your Audio Input Level is set to 'Line', try switching it back to 'Phono'.
In terms query about having a AMD processor, we don't really support it as it bad tracking, but that is no reason for it to suddenly stop working.

Okay Mak T, I believe I figured out that both of my rca's on the tables are pretty bad. The right one more than the left. This would be why sometimes both scopes wouldn't be recognized. As I started twisting the cables around with both sides playing, I got them both to play and become recognizable scopes. From watching youtube videos and discussions it looks like switching these out could be a real project considering I've never used a sodering gun before. So I'm going to have to have it done by someone else. Thanks for your time and help and I will let you know when I fix it up and they are working again

Hey djinclinator,
I thought that may have been the problem as the Rane SL range of hardware are very sturdy devices. The replacement of the RCA cables is a complex process if you're going to attempt it yourself, so its best to have a professional look at it. It may also be beneficial to look into having your turntables internally earthed/grounded. This will eliminate the chore of grounding your turntable into a mixer every time you play, as well as get rid of any obstructing static.
Let me know how you go with the repair.
Good Luck.

I recently bought a mac book, is there any other way to change the setting of windows on my external hard drive to the mac settings without having to transfer the music files to another computer? That could be like 3 hours! I need to be able to save my playlists

Okay, So I am reopening this thread because I'm real sure that my Box is broken. After the replacement of my turntables rca cables, everything has been fine until 2 nights ago the box flew out of a bag in my van and hit the floor. Ever since the wave forms have been real glitchy and sometimes they dont even play, just sit still. Also when it does play the music sounds a tad slow like its dragging. No punch to it. I'm wondering where can I get something like this fixed??? Or do i just buy a new one?

Lastly, Have you tried using the latest version of Scratch Live? we have just released Scratch Live 2.4.3, and it houses a lot of bug fixes along with all new features.
Cheers.

Yes, and recently the waveforms have been skipping, and it crashed on me when the hardware wasn't even hooked up. I'm lost

Truth is, The waveforms are playing but are pulsating and it seems as if they are slowing down a little every 2 seconds. the music is playing fine, no skipping but the the waveforms are buggin me out, because they're not running smoothly.

In that case, have you tried lowering down your buffer size?
