I just purchased the video plugin- order: 0354277. I also updated to the latest version of Scratch Live . When I run the plugin, it crashes each time saying: SeratoVideo.exe has stopped working - this is instantaneous too, it never loads anything. I am using a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ348E/B that was upgraded to windows7 and 4GB RAM with a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT - 256 MB video card. Serato has worked flawlessly on this machine in the past. Might this have something to do with installing Quicktime 7.7.1? Can you please advise? Thank you.

Hi SLiKent,

Sorry to hear you are having troubles with Scratch Live and Serato Video, lets get them sorted.

In your details at the top of this thread you included Video-SL. Just to clarify Video-SL is no longer compatible with Scratch Live 2.4.1 or future releases.

Download Serato Video 1.0.1 Public Beta from this link;

serato.com

It could possibly be a corrupt text and image.xml but we will look at that as the next option.

Download and install Serato Video from the link above and let me know how it goes. If you are still having issues we will look at other options.

Any luck trying to get this resolved? I'm in a bit of a time crunch. I've never worked with Serato Video, and I need to be familiar with it by Saturday.

Hi SLiKent,

Did you download and install the Serato Video 1.0.1 Beta ?

Check that your graphics card drivers are up to date through the manufacturers website and set the graphics card to High Performance.

There could be a number of things going on here;

I suggest you try re-installing Scratch Live and the Serato Video Beta.

Next determine which video decoder is being utilized by your laptop by using these force registry scripts in this link;

serato.com

Next if you are using DirectShow to decode video then I suggest you download and install the codec packs from these links;

serato.com

Also, the CCCP and K-Lite codec packs from this link; ninite.com

Next make sure that you analyze all of your audio and video files in Scratch Live and remove any corrupt files from your Scratch Live library.

The recommended format for use with Serato Video is MP4 ( container ) H.264 ( video codec ) AAC ( audio codec ).

Let me know how you get on if you are still having issues we will look at other options.

I did all of that. Still having the same issue. As far as I know, all of the graphic card drivers are up to date, but when i installed the latest driver update, the program gave me an error message that reads: "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." I'm not sure why I would get this message, and I can tell you that the computer has no trouble playing videos through Windows Media Player in high-def with the same codecs you mentioned above. But do you think this error could be affecting Serato Video? I'm going to try installing the plugin on a different computer just to make sure it works on that. I installed the latest versions of all Serato, and got the other updates you recommended, as well as removed any bad files.

Anthony, it did indeed turn out to be a driver update error. After a few hours of researching I found a force driver update that made the Serato Video work, however, the CPU runs at 100% and the video output is choppy even if I set resolution to poor. Does my computer just suck?, or do I have some settings that need to be tweaked?

Hi SLiKent,

Well, i'm glad you got the plugin working and resolved the graphics driver issue.

The NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT is only 256MB of ram, we do recommend a graphics card with at least 1GB of dedicated ram for best performance with Serato Video. That said, you should be able to mix with your setup, performance will be restricted when you start mixing two HD files.

Check the task manager when you have Scratch Live and Serato Video open, make sure no other applications are running and wireless and Bluetooth are turned OFF.

Scratch Live>Setup>Plugins>Serato Video>Output

Aspect Ratio 16:9
Quality - Medium
Buffer - 300MB

USB Buffer at 5 or 10ms.

Let me know the results and we will look at further options.
