I've been using the novatin twitch without fail since it was first availible on the west coast. since the most recent update i've experenced popping and studdering in the middle of tracks playing, first i thought i was turning on and off the FX too often, but it had begun to happen durring tracks playing with no FX and im not even searching thru my library...
i use a Mac wiith OS X 2.66 GHz core 2 Duo & 5 GB of RAM there should not be popping or studdering my account, i may not have thought of something you can, i'm now downloading a past version of the software I have a show tonight and need it to be on point... any other ideas would be greatly appreceated. if needed plz give me a call *number removed* my name is Tim.

Quick checks:
USB cable in the front port (I know there is LOTS of opinions on this but try it)
Different USB cable (preferably one with a ferite on it and as large of a diameter wires as you have, the Twitch is thirsty)
Bluetooth, Wifi and email are all off (and any other straggler programs running in the upper menu bar)
When was the last time you rebooted the computer, we Mac folk can go a long time sometimes :)
Re-install Itch; easy and always worth a try.
You have a funny RAM number, split RAM (not the same in both slots) is a long shot but you never know. (Others will correct me if I'm out to lunch).

Hi Djweapon_X,
here's the full list of optimization tips:
• Switch off Bluetooth.
• Disable any Anti-Virus software.
• Switch off wireless network and unplug any wired network connections.
• Switch off screen saver and set sleep mode to 'never'.
• Make sure your hard drive doesn't have a sleep mode selected.
• Ensure you have ample room left on your hard drive (this is approximately a minimum of 10% of your hard drive capacity - both internal and external).
• Close down any other software, including antivirus software or the like.
• Calibrate your USB buffer setting. Start with the USB buffer slider at the hard right position, and slowly move it as far to the left as you can before you notice any audio interruptions or loss of performance. Ideally you will want the lowest buffer setting possible.
Any luck with those?
Mathew

ok, sorry for the lack of communication, but problem presists.
brought my ram to an even 4 gigs, got a gold cable, did everthing on the list.
even picked up an external powered usb hub incase it was a power issue. No luck.
still getting random pops sometimes in the middle of a song while im not touching anthing, & more frustrating, while using multiple FX or FX and jumping through loops/ cuepoints.
dont get me wrong I still love this device. i just want to push it to its fullest potental, let me know if u guys come up with anything else. i understand another 2 or 4 gig of ram may help but i would think not needed.
( i did notice a decreace in occurrence after making sure the HD was not in auto sleep mode)
It could be my exernal HD slowing it down, but i use firewire& the drive has its own power. am i asking to much to have a 1TB HD hooked up for a wide varity of music?
Thankyou

One testing option would be to try a set with tracks on your internal drive and see if you get the same issues.

thanks for the idea. but sadly, less than 5 min in to jamming out with no external HD connected, stuttering occoured... i have come across some people who think it may be a hardwhare issue on Novation's end. trying to contact the customer support for them.
thanks all

I have the same exact problem and googeling the issue brought me here. Could it be the quality of the sound or improper beat grid?

Honestly I think it is your computer.
When I run itch with my twitch on my laptop this sometimes happens.
The best thing I can do it turn off everything including the wifi adapter and virus software that run in the background and only have the twitch connected. Only then can I get through a clean set without the popping happening when i load a track or switch effects.
My laptop is 7 years old and barely meets the minimum requirements for itch so i expect this to happen. On my desktop which is a quad core it works just fine. Unfortunately I can't take my desktop to Gigs so The first thing on my list is a new laptop.
