OK, so I just got a VCI-300 and have got it to recognize on my 2006 MacBook, but have been unable to get it working on my 2006 MacBook Pro, where my music is stored.

I was originally having the too much power being drawn when powering up the VCI-300 from both USB ports even when I had the PC/Thru switch set to thru on startup and then subsequently switched over to "PC". I would do this procedure first, and then open Itch (tried on both 2.2 and 2.0 to no avail).

I bought a compatible power adapter at a Radio Shack and have gotten past the USB power issue, but now still cannot get Itch to recognize my device.

The jog wheels light up blue when left alone and turn red when touched, I have 1 lightbar showing on each channel fader, the pitch faders also light up when locked at the 0% position, the power light is on, and the data light flashes when buttons are pressed. I see a faint green backlight under the keylock, autotempo, scratch, and shift buttons and a faint orange light behind the cues, loops, and sensor buttons, but they look slightly brighter on the left side than the right.

I've tried the Thru first, then PC procedure with the power adapter as well, but it has made no difference. Also, powering up the VCI-300 before starting Itch has not worked, nor has powering the device on and off while the program is open and running.

Help!

I have also just done all system updates on OS 10.6.8 and can think of no other possible variables to alter.

I have also checked to see if the device shows up in "Audio MIDI Setup" and I see a USB device called VCI 300. Under "Aggregate Devices", VCI 300 shows up in a list to be checked or unchecked. Other devices listed in the "Aggregate Devices" area are Built-In Microphone, Built-In Input, and Built-In Output. All devices are unchecked right now.

Open Applications

Under Window Tab click on Open Midi Window
Under Configuration Click New Configuration
Name the new configuration VCi-300
Once done it should recognize Itch

Hello, I ended up just clicking on the VCI-300 in "Open Midi Window" and it magically started working. It was clicked on my Nanopad 2 before.

Another strange thing, it's now able to run exclusively off of USB bus power...I don't know if it has anything to do with being on 220V now, though...it could be.

Hi H2o,

I'm glad its working. That is strange with the USB since it draws power from the computer and not the adapter. Please let me know if you need further assistance as I will go ahead and close this thread in the meantime. Thank you.

Regards,

Ron
