I have my master gain set to 100% and the channel gains to 0db and it just isn't loud enough. As soon as i raise the channel gains the "Limiter" engages. Amps are at 100%. I normally use SL and a 57sl mixer and absolutely no issues with overall volume or clipping. What can I do to get the extra volume level without the limiter engaging

Hey DJAbell,

Put everything back to normal on the Typhoon levels can be changed in DJ Intro on top mid/right?
Try that first. Let me know how you go?

Hey DJAbell,

Your comparing the Typhoon a limited entry level controller with the 'Rane TTM57'. The Rane TTM57 is a high end club standard mixer.
How low is the sound DJ Abell? Is it really low, like ridiculously low, can hardly hear it or are you talk about from a comparison point of view?

Not really low. It is low from a comparison point of view but it only gets as loud as if i was to play background music. I can't turn it up to a good "party" level without the limiter engaging in a small venue for maybe 50 people. I hope that makes sense

Hey DjAbell,

I could say if that's low or not from my point of view. There not made to be pro audio controllers, i guess it is what it is? Any chance you know anyone else with one you can compare with? Maybe take it into the shop your brought it from and compare with another? I'd not try comparing with a pro audio level mixer. Best i can offer :)
Let me know how you go.

It wouldn't think it's the controller. It is the software with the integrator limiter that is causing the issue.
I can understand its not a pro audio controller but this should only limit the advanced options ie: effects, hot keys, etc. not the basics of overall volume. Don't ya think?

What's your Gain set to in the setup? Have you tried playing with the DB ratings and seeing if that makes a difference?
DJABELL 11:58 PM - 16 April, 2012
Raising the gains still makes the limiter kick in.
The typhoon does have a trim/gain for individual channnel which are set to 0db (or middle) which gives me the extra volume i need but then the limiter engages.

Any ideas??

Hey DJAbell,

The only thing i can suggest at this stage is to see if you can source another Typhoon and see if they are the in volume output?

Hey DJAbell,

It is what it is. They're not extremely powerful units, sorry.

Would powering the unit with a power adapter make a difference?

Hey DJAbell,

I'm unsure, maybe? Maybe ask vestal support what there take on it is.. They maybe have some advise on this issue also. Let me know how you go.

I now bought the Vestax VCI-300 with the same issue. Interesting info I found. I will assume this must be true with all their controllers.....I will test today and give an update how it performs.

Differences VCI-300 to VCI-300MKII

1,Volume Boost (Gain Boost)
Higher output gain level and headphone volume level when supplying power with the optional power adaptor.
Important Note: Optional power supply DC-7 must be used in order to get the boost on the headphones and Master output. Without the power supply the MKII will perform just like the original VCI-300. Also, using the DC-7 on the original VCI-300 will do nothing.

Solved!!! USE A POWER ADAPTER. Shitty tech support by vestax when i brought the issue to them. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT VESTAX!!!
