On my main pc I don't get sound trough the DDJ-S1.
The VU meters of both channels do light up but when I move the sliders up, there comes nothing out my speakers or headphone even no light on the master channel of the VU meter.(with the crossfader setting on thru)
I've tried the DDJ-S1 on another pc and then there is no problem.

How can I solve this problem?

How did you solve the problem?

When the trim stays at MIN, the lights on the VU meter would not light up but they do it.
The trim knobs are set to 11 o'clock.
So it's unfortunately not a simple problem.

Hey Dave W,

My problem is that when I turn on the ddj-s1 the hardware connects with the software as normal.
Than I can use all the buttons on the ddj-s1 without a problem, but when I load a track and hit play, I hear nothing trough my speakers or my headphone (when he is in mixing mode). But the VU meter of both channels do light up as normal. So when I move the sliders up, the VU meter of the master channel doesn't light up and gives also no sound as already mentioned.
I've tried to use the newest version of itch 2.1 but with no success.
I also tried to use another pc, and there it works perfectly (with itch 1.8 ddj-s1)

So I think the problem is not the hardware but a wrong setting in itch or the ddj-s1's driver or a bug.

But I can't find the problem and hope that you can fix this problem.

Thanks in advance

Hey M-S1,

Firstly let's uninstall your drivers then download and re-install.
Make sure you have your DDJ-S1 connected and turned on, go to>Control panel>Device manager>Sound, video & Game controllers Tab> Right click on the Pioneer DDJ-S1 uninstall/ do the same for the DDJ-S1 MIDI.
Disconnect the DDJ-S1 & then re-connect. The DDJ-S1 should automatically re-install the drivers.

Let's also just double check that your sound device setting are correctly assigned.
Go to> click on the sound icon on the Task bar in Windows. Then click on the speaker at the top of the level meter. This should take you to the Speaker/Headphones Properties.
Make sure in your 'Controller Information' that the sound card for your computer is selected and NOT your DDJ-S1.

Let me know how you go with this.

What is the next step?

Hey Mick,

What other USB devices do you have connected to your P.C, eg. other MIDI devices, wireless mouse/keyboard? Anything at all? Also do you have have any other Audio software installed on your P.C? Give me a bit of a run down on what you are running, could be a conflict between software/other USB devices.
Make sure the only thing you have connected is the DDJ-S1.

Let me know how these things go.

M-S1 2:14 PM - 26 March, 2012
When I use te DDJ-S1 I only have connected a usb mouse and keyboard, nothing else.
Other audio software I have installed is: pioneer's own Recordbox and Fruity loops 10 (they do not run when I use serato and the DDJ-S1)

Itch and the S1 has runned a while whitout any problems and suddenly I had this problem.

A strange thing that I noticed in itch is a code in the setup above the version number in the lower left corner, only when de DDJ-S1 is connected. That code looks like an error code you get in a BSOD of a pc. In itch 2.1 this code is 0x00000065.

I hope this is useful information.

Hey M-S1,

Let's just try a few more things as i'm still trying to gain a picture of your setup. Go back to Sound properties, Go to> click on the sound icon on the Task bar in Windows. Then click on the speaker at the top of the level meter. This should take you to the Speaker/Headphones Properties.
Try using DDJ-S1 as the selected sound card and see if you can get any sound through it. Eg. Windows sounds etc.

Also do you have a power supply for your DDJ-S1? If you do try using it, there maybe Insufficient power through the USB port.

One more thing, is the mouse/keyboard wireless? just want to try taking them out of the picture if possible just as a test.

Let me know how you go.

M-S1 1:21 PM - 27 March, 2012
Hey Dave

I have tried the first thing you said and than I get windows sounds trough the master of the DDJ-S1. I do always use the power supply for the S1 and the mouse and keyboard are both wired with an USB cable, but I took them out for the test anyway. Unfortunately that did not work.

So that code doesn't mean anything (in my last post) and what does it mean when I get windows sounds trought the master?

I have the same problem. Im pretty sure its a driver problem, since my ddjs1 played perfect on 2.1 before. I still haven't figured it out, but it should be a change of settings in the sound drivers

Hey MS-S1,

That number is just the Code for the DDJ-S1. It's not an error code :)

We have just released ITCH 2.2.0. Try updating your version and see what happens? Link: serato.com

I'm going to talk to some other staff here about this issue. Try that first and we'll keep troubleshooting till we get there .

2.2.0 Doens't work for me, so it think that TheGreek is right.

Who supplies the driver, Serato or Pioneer?

Nice to hear you're working on it!

i had this problem.... had ddj-s1 mouse and keyboard conected... so no master audio came out... unplug the two usb mouse and keyboard... turnd on ddj-s1 reopen or lunched itch 2.2.0 en audio came on, with out no unistalling.... it work for me hope it works for u... im running itch 2.2.0 and serato video on asus g73sw i7 8gigram......
M-S1 2:56 PM - 29 March, 2012
Lazzer, I love you!
That approach works for me too.
I've researched a bit further and came with the conclusion that it only only occurs when the keyboard is plugged in.

So my question to Dave is: what can be the cause of this?

My PC is just 1 month old: Asus i7, 12 gigram. So I hope there is no problem with the PC.

Regards
M-S1 3:58 PM - 29 March, 2012
When I put 1 of the 2, the controller or the keyboard, in a USB 3.0 port, it works without any problems.

What does that mean?

Hello!

Happened to me exactly the same thing. When I connect a keyboard or a mouse together with the controller in my notebook, no sound comes out. So far not discovered why this is, as with the VDJ this does not happen. And the funny thing is that on my desktop where I have two keyboards, a mouse, an external hard drive, a joystick and a USB hub does not problems! I think it's the architecture of some notebooks it happens. On the Mac I'm sure that there's trouble!

In this case, does not problems because the USB 3.0 ports are independently controlled by a chip of the chip that controls the USB 2.0, beyond being more advanced than its predecessor. I believe that with the new notebooks that have USB 3.0 ports, this problem is over!

When I load a 2nd track the sound starts to crack the whole set long.
I can do whatever I want with the buffer size, without succes

Has that something to do with the 3.0 USB?

Plug DDJ-S1 in USB 3.0 port and keyboard & mouse in USB 2.0 ports.
Make a test and check if its work fine.

I've done that, but it doesn't matter.
But it is only trough the output and not in a recorded mix!
RodrigoVolta 4:46 PM - 19 April, 2012
Strange....
Release keyboard and mouse. Plug DDJ only.
If do not sound in output too, do a test in other computer to check.
ITCH + DDJ overload USB channel in some notebooks, specially PCs. I think so that Mac have not this problem.

Anybody do a test with wireless keyboard?
M-S1 5:15 PM - 20 April, 2012
I've tried what you said and than it far less.

Is there a way to solve it completely, because removing the keyboard and mouse every time is not a pleasant option.

I use a USB wired keyboard and USB wired mouse.
RodrigoVolta 10:27 PM - 20 April, 2012
Funny...
In my desktop, I no have any problem... I have a 2 keyboards, 1 mouse, 1 Xbox Joypad, 1 External HD and Smart Card MultiHeader plugged in USB ports and does not occur any problem.
Only in my Acer notebook the problem apper!! Very, very strange...
M-S1 8:05 AM - 21 April, 2012
It's very strange indeed, this desktop is 2 months old with an i7, 12gb ram.
On my old desktop with a Dual Core AMD 3.0 Ghz and 2gb ram it worked fine.

You should expect that the new one should easily be able to run Itch + DDJ.

This is very strange to me.
phatbob 6:11 PM - 21 April, 2012
Have you updated your bios and USB drivers?

Do you use your DDJ with desktop or notebook? The problem occour in desk?
It may be a peculiarity with the Intel chipsets, because my desktop is AMD architecture and the problem does not occur.

Someone who had a notebook with AMD architecture could do a test and see if the problem occurs or not. If not, it really is a peculiarity with the Intel chipsets that, in my view, have always been problematic!

Yes I do have an Intel Chipset, so that can explain the problem.
Pity that there is nothing to do on it.

Thanks for your help!

This PC is only 2 months old?

I think that the way RodrigoVolta explains is more obvious
